The Work

Lockheed Martin is seeking an experienced FPGA Designer to join our Mission Systems team. In this role, you will play a key part in the development of Advanced Processing systems and subsystems, supporting all aspects of hardware development from requirements derivation through product integration. You’ll lead efforts to ensure the technical integrity, quality, and completeness of work, ensuring that project deliverables meet cost and schedule commitments.

Key responsibilities include:
Supporting overall organizational process compliance, including management of the FPGA Development Process.
FPGA development activities and providing technical guidance.
Ensuring the technical integrity and completeness of deliverables.
Managing customer interfaces and coordinating with multiple stakeholders.
Leveraging Digital Transformation tools to enhance development processes.

This position is located in Owego, NY.
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD government clearance at the Secret level.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline with approximately nine or more years of relevant experience; master’s degree with approximately seven or more years; or equivalent experience.
• Significant FPGA architecture, RTL design, implementation, integration, and verification experience using VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog.
• Proficiency with AMD/Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus, Microchip Libero, or comparable tools.
• Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems and lead work with limited direction.
• Demonstrated technical leadership, collaboration, mentoring, and communication.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain an Interim Secret before starting and maintain a final Secret clearance.

Desired Skills

• DO-254 design assurance, traceability, coverage, audits, or certification evidence.
• AMD/Xilinx FPGA/SoC/ACAP, PolarFire/PolarFire SoC, or Intel FPGA experience.
• PCIe, Ethernet, DDR, JESD204, Aurora, SERDES, LVDS, AXI, or source-synchronous interfaces.
• Advanced timing analysis, CDC/RDC, floorplanning, pin/bank validation, and timing closure.
• UVM, constrained-random verification, coverage, regression automation, formal methods, or HIL.
• Python, Tcl, MATLAB, C/C++, or similar automation skills.
• Git, CI/CD, automated builds/regressions, issue tracking, and configuration management.
• FPGA technical-review leadership and multidisciplinary/customer coordination.
• Estimates, schedules, staffing plans, technical risks, and program-leadership status.
• Mentoring, knowledge transfer, reuse, and process-improvement experience.
