The Opportunity

Eligibility: Applicants must be Australian citizens and be eligible to obtain and maintain an active Australian Government Defence security clearance at the level required for the position.

LMA has entered into an arrangement with BAE, Saab and CoA (MIWS) for the execution of all Combat System Integration work related to the Aegis Surface Combatant fleet.

The agreement, called the Combat Systems Integration – Integrated Project Team (CSI-IPT) Collaboration Agreement or CCA forms a collaborative enterprise organisation to execute scopes of work across Hobart Class Destroyer (SEA4000 Phase 6 and other related Destroyer Capability Enhancement (DCE) upgrades) and the Hunter Class Frigates (HCFs - SEA5000 Phase 1). The CSI-IPT evolves the current independently executing programs such as SEA4000 Phase  6 and SEA5000 Phase 1 under an umbrella enterprise organisation formed as a program of programs.

We are seeking an experienced Project Controller/Scheduler to join the CSI-IPT team. Working within a complex project controls environment, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining and analysing integrated schedules that support production, testing and maintenance activities across major Defence programs. This is an opportunity to apply your planning, scheduling and project controls expertise while contributing to nationally significant Defence outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and optimise integrated project schedules across production, testing and maintenance activities.
  • Support the development and maintenance of Performance Measurement Baselines (PMBs).
  • Analyse schedule performance, critical paths, milestones, dependencies and delivery risks.
  • Produce schedule reporting, forecasts and performance insights to support project and program decision-making.
  • Ensure schedule quality, governance and compliance with recognised scheduling standards and best practice principles.
  • Develop and maintain resource demand and utilisation reporting to support workforce and capacity planning.
  • Ensure effective integration between supplementary schedules, master schedules and project controls reporting frameworks.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers and key stakeholders to support successful project delivery.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across scheduling, planning and project controls processes.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in planning and scheduling to support project teams and stakeholders.

What you'll bring

You are an experienced planning, scheduling or project controls professional who enjoys working in complex delivery environments and influencing project outcomes through high-quality schedule analysis and reporting.

Skills and experience required:

  • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining integrated project schedules within a complex project, program or portfolio environment.
  • Strong understanding of project planning, scheduling and project controls disciplines.
  • Experience analysing critical paths, schedule health, delivery performance and project risks.
  • Experience using enterprise scheduling tools such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project or equivalent platforms.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • A proactive and analytical approach with a strong focus on quality and continuous improvement.

Any of the following is highly desirable:

  • Defence, shipbuilding, sustainment, engineering, infrastructure, utilities or major project experience.
  • Earned Value Management (EVM) exposure.
  • Performance Measurement Baseline (PMB) development and maintenance.
  • Resource planning and project controls reporting.
