About the role

We are looking for a skilled Senior Reliability Engineer to join our engineering department. You will lead and support reliability, availability, and maintainability (RAM) activities across complex hardware, software, or electronic defence systems. Your work will directly impact product safety, operational readiness, and mission success.

Key Responsibilities

•         Conduct reliability predictions, calculations, and analysis across all product lifecycle phases.

•         Perform Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) to identify and mitigate design risks.

•         Develop and manage Reliability and Maintainability (R&M) Programme Plans and Safety Cases.

•         Analyze test results and field failure data to drive continuous design improvements.

•         Collaborate with systems, software, and hardware engineering teams to ensure compliance with defence standards and regulations.

•         Participate in internal and external project reliability reviews and panels.

A key requirement of this role is the ability to obtain and maintain a high‑level security clearance. If you do not currently hold the required clearance, we can support you through the application process. DV Clearance will be required for the role - applicants should either already hold a DV or being prepared to go through an application immediately.

This position will require an on-site presence in Ampthill, Bedfordshire.

Required skills, qualifications and experience

Strong experience of reliability engineering experience in a manufacturing or defense environment. Proven track record in managing reliability studies and producing actionable recommendations.

Must be able to work in the UK without restrictions in accordance with UK National Law and be prepared to successfully undertake an appropriate level of UK National Security Vetting according to UK Government National Security Vetting criteria: DV Clearance will be required for the role - applicants should either already hold a DV or being prepared to go through an application immediately.

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related STEM field (or equivalent practical experience). 
• Proven experience in reliability engineering, safety analysis, or systems assurance within aerospace, defence, or a highly regulated safety-critical industry.
• Strong working knowledge of FMECA, reliability prediction standards, and fault tree analysis.
• Excellent verbal and written communication – able to produce clear, concise reports and present findings to technical & non‑technical audiences.
