Standard Job Description
Manages general services, repairs, and overhauls of aircraft and aircraft engines to ensure that aircraft are in good mechanical condition and safe for flight. Directs periodic inspections and general overhaul and repairs or modifications requiring replacement and assembly of parts. Consults manufacturers manuals for specifications and determines feasibility of repair or replacement. May require FAA aircraft and engine mechanic license.
The chosen applicant will be responsible for conducting aircraft structural maintenance, repair and modification on the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) CC130J Hercules Fleet operated and maintained at 8 Wing Trenton. This position will work directly with the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Contractor Field Office (CFO) at Trenton.
- Perform repairs on aircraft structural components. This will include, but not be limited to, the assessment of damage, control of corrosion, repairs, modification and replacement of aircraft structures and structural components using recognized techniques and specialized tools and equipment
- Resolve all defects/unserviceabilities including disassembly, replacement and reassembly; and related systems support such as disturbed systems checks and functional checks. according to specifications, technical drawings, manuals and procedures
- Perform routine maintenance
- Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Basic Qualifications
- Must meet one of the following eligibility streams:
- Hold a current Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) “S” license, or
- Be qualified as an Aircraft Structures Technician (ACS) with the Canadian Forces, and held a minimum Level A authorization.
- Have a minimum of six months experience on heavy aircraft within the last 24 months
- Basic to detailed knowledge of aircraft structures and structural components, inspection techniques, damage assessment, aircraft materials and hardware, use of special tools and equipment. Knowledge of corrosion control techniques and paint or coating systems
- Must be capable of reading and interpreting technical documentation such as technical manuals, drawings and technical data packages, engineering dispositions and instructions and associated data
- Must demonstrate a compliant and skilled level of proficiency, which is acquired by course or on the job training and practical experience, for authorization of Maintenance Release (Department of National Defence (DND) – Level A), and must demonstrate a detailed understanding of airworthiness requirements for authorization to perform airworthiness functions
- Must have a valid Ontario Driver’s License
- Ability to travel and work on or off-site Mobile Repair Parties
- Ability to work shift work as required.
Desired Skills
- Completed C130J Hercules type course and qualified on-type
- Hold a current C130J Hercules endorsement/authorization
- Basic to detailed knowledge in carrying out instructions, accessing and using applicable electrical technical manuals and general wiring practices standards
