THE WORK
The Lockheed Martin Next Generation Interceptor (NGI) team is seeking experienced level 2 Systems Engineer with an active Secret clearance to work from either our Boulder, CO or Longmont, CO location.

The Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) Infrastructure Team is seeking a DevOps Engineer to design, build, and operate the ground‑station platform that supports both SBIRS and the Next‑Gen GEO OPIR ground stations. You will work hand‑in‑hand with infrastructure engineers and mission specialists to automate provisioning, configuration, and continuous‑delivery pipelines for ultra‑reliable, secure, and scalable ground‑systems.  

Standard Job Description

  • Performs tech planning, design, devel, integ, v&v for total syst life cycle. 
    Analyses performed at all levels of syst product incl. concept, design, fabrication, test, instl, operation, maintenance & disposal, incorp design methods & stds for Cyber Security, SW & HW infrastructure.
  • Designs, devels, docs, tests & debugs SW that contains logical & math solutions to business/mission problems/questions in computer language.
  • Ensures the logical & syst conversion of customer/product reqs into total syst solutions that ack tech, sched, cost constraints & align to SW & HW deployment pipelines & factories.
  • Performs func & timeline analysis, detail trade & reqs allocation & interface defs studies to translate customer reqs into HW & SW feature defs & acceptance criteria.
  • Applies stds, processes, procedures & tools throughout the devel life cycle.
  • Applies HW & SW knowledge, cyber security stds in business/mission apps, & feedback from users to develop SW.
  • Corrects program errors, prepares operating instructions, compiles doc of program devel & analyzes syst capabilities to resolve program problems, output/input data acq, programming tech & controls.
  • Ensures SW stds are met. Validates incorp of features & use cases into implemented designs

Basic Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Git and Git based development workflows.
  • Knowledge of with Ansible and/or Terraform, or familiarity with other IaC toolsets.
  • Familiarity with Python, Bash, or other shell scripting languages.
  • Hands on experience using, troubleshooting, and/or administering Linux operating systems
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, effectively communicate technical concepts, generate and maintain technical documentation, foster teamwork, and drive shared solutions to meet project objectives.
  • Active Sec+ or ability to obtain within 60-90 days of onboarding.
  • Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance 

Desired Skills

  • Familiarity with containerization concepts and the use of Docker and/or Podman.
  • Knowledge of container orchestration platforms – Kubernetes and/or OpenShift.
  • Experience writing and maintaining Helm charts for deployment to the above platforms.
  • Understanding of software classifications and controls (COTS, GOTS, FOSS, etc.) within secure operating environments.
  • Experience with GitLab and Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence).
  • Experience with static code analysis tools (Fortify, SonarQube, Coverity, etc.).
  • Familiarity with vSphere or AWS for on prem or cloud virtualization.
  • Basic understanding of networking diagnostics and concepts.
  • Prior DevOps or automation focused software development background.
  • Understanding of CI/CD concepts and the orchestration of pipelines using GitLab or Jenkins.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance. 
  • Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $91200.00 - $169400.00

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
