Standard Job Description
As an Associate Software Manager within the Advanced Programs & Exploitation (APEX) team you will lead a multi-disciplinary team supporting ongoing programs and internal research and development efforts. The APEX team is focused on a variety of efforts centered around mission processing applications of remote sensing payloads.
You will be responsible for staff planning and ensuring projects are executed on schedule and within budget. A large part of the job will be partnering with teams across organizations and lines of business to coordinate efficient project execution.
The selected candidate will be expected to perform in a technical leadership role to meet daily operational requirements in addition to assuming the engineering management responsibilities. In this role, you will be required to exercise a breadth of skillsets in order to fulfill your operational and programmatic responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Technical Leadership Skills: Participating in and facilitating day-to-day project conversations to ensure that the technical solution space is being considered from a system thinking perspective while also accounting for cost & schedule impacts.
- Engineering Management Skills: Participate in and contribute to each employee's career growth, providing empowerment, coaching and guidance to various areas of skills development. Monitor and actively provide feedback on employees' performances. Attract, onboard, and retrain new talent. Ensure that projects are appropriately staffed with the needed skillsets to complete the technical efforts.
- Communication Skills: Written & Verbal; This role will be a primary liaison between the Lockheed Martin team and contract partners, the customer, and internal company leadership. e.g. Program Management Reviews, Technical Highlights, etc
Basic Qualifications
- Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated track record of planning and driving program execution for complex development activities
- Demonstrated leadership skills through relevant work experience
- Demonstrated understanding of systems thinking skills and behavior
- Ability to work collaboratively in multi‑disciplinary teams
Desired Skills
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast paced and dynamic multi-disciplinary environment
- Proactive interpersonal skills across all levels of stakeholders, with the ability to drive consensus on best ideas, processes, and products
- Proficiency in MATLAB, C++, or Python
- Applied mathematics, algorithm and simulation development experience
- Experience working DoD programs
- Experience with OPIR or proliferated constellations programs
- Experience or working knowledge of tracking and/or computer vision related algorithms
- Earned Value Management (EVM)/Control Account Management (CAM) and proposal experience
- Active secret clearance and ability to obtain/maintain SCI security clearance
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $135700.00 - $251900.00

- For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
