Standard Job Description
As a Ground Systems Engineer for the Next Generation GEO Operations and Sustainment Team you will:
- Provide real time, operational support to various teams for the operation and maintenance of Ground and Space system software and equipment
- Ensure system Ground and Space functionality during operations and testing environments
- Provide system maintenance support for a large system of computers (Linux environment), associated switching, network, communication circuits, and equipment
- Identify system problems, perform troubleshooting, correcting, and documenting both software and hardware failures
- Support daily system configuration management during operations and system upgrades/modifications
- Ensure inter-system capabilities with multiple Remote Ground Stations including Satellite Control Network
- Provide limited database system administration
- Provide operations subject matter expertise to technical working groups
- Participate in Ground and Space anomaly resolution working groups
- Analyze and validate system performance
- Thoroughly document system deficiencies
- Provide technical recommendations and guidance to Ground and Satellite operators during system failures and recovery
- Monitor and recover, if necessary, software and database synchronization between primary and backup operations centers
- Collaborate closely with internal/external technical engineering operations teams
- Troubleshoot system anomalies when external customers endure data outages
Basic Qualifications
- Final Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance
- Knowledge/experience in Linux
- Must be able to support 24x7 operations environment
- Security+ certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire)
- System troubleshooting skills
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work as a member of a team in a dynamic environment
Desired Skills
- Active TS/SCI security clearance
- Experience with Linux shell scripting
- Background in technology, engineering, software, hardware, system, or network administration
- Satellite systems experience
- Experience with large complex systems
- System documentation and program lifecycle experience
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $95900.00 - $178100.00
