The Payload Launch Sites Support Services (PLSSS) Program provides all launch processing support functions for Office of Space Launch (OSL). The program’s two primary operating locations are Vandenberg AFB, CA and Cape Canaveral AFS, FL. Key elements of the PLSSS program scope include satellite launch processing, satellite transport operations, satellite propellant loading operations, and satellite processing facilities O&M, clean room operations, and safety and environmental services.

The Engineer selected for this position will provide direct support for maintenance, operation, and project planning for HVAC projects for multiple facilities.

This role’s primary duty will consist of overseeing facility HVAC systems by:
• Executing preventative maintenance procedures with technicians
• Investigating and troubleshooting HVAC anomalies with technicians
• Generating work authorizing documents
• Implementing upgrades and proposing design changes
• Preparing and updating drawings, plans, and procedures
• Preparing purchase requisitions
• And improving existing preventative maintenance procedures.

This role may also:
- Identify scope of work for mechanical designs (HVAC/Utilities) based on preliminary review of customer requirements.
- Assess and analyze the operation of existing systems using detailed trend analyses.
- Make calculations using engineering formulas and skills for design such as heating and cooling loads, equipment sizing, etc.
- Implement small design upgrade projects or provide technical expertise for large projects.
- Update documentation to be incorporated in drawings by drafters and configuration mgt.
- Procedural updates as well as other systems requirements and facility documentation updates.
- Prepare detailed estimates and develops probable cost estimates for projects within the business unit.

Candidates for this position must have US Citizenship and ability to obtain TS/SCI w/Poly Clearance.

Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or similar, from an accredited college.
• Minimum of 4 years of combined Engineering Experience.
• Excellent interpersonal, teamwork and documentation skills.
• Candidates for this position must have US Citizenship and the ability to obtain TS/SCI w/Poly Clearance.

 

Desired Skills

• Knowledge of psychometrics, fluid systems, and heat transfer.
• Familiarity with cleanroom systems and Direct Digital Control (DDC) Systems as applied to HVAC systems.
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply mechanical system codes, drawings, and specifications.
• Familiarity with the following: ASHRAE and NFPA standards; Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC); Predictive Maintenance Technologies (PdM); and Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) practices.
• Experience developing technical documentation including system configuration documentation and process & instrumentation diagrams.
• Experience with project planning, scheduling, design, and implementation.
• Experience with the design, analysis, operation, and maintenance of HVAC systems.
• Familiarity with Section 608 of the Clean Air Act (Refrigerant Management Requirements).
• Ability to develop maintenance requirements and documentation for complex HVAC systems based on RCM analysis.
• Possessing a TS/SCI clearance with counterintelligence polygraph.
• Experience with MAXIMO.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Excellent interpersonal, teamwork and documentation skills.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $85300.00 - $158300.00
