Standard Job Description

Lockheed Martin Corporate Mission Development & Integration (MDI) team is seeking a visionary Chief Architect to define, develop, and govern secure, interoperable, multi‑domain mission architectures that turn strategic objectives into affordable, technology‑driven system‑of‑systems solutions across air, space, maritime, and land.

What You Will Be Doing:
In this role, you will envision, design, develop, and govern an enterprise‑wide architecture that enables integrated mission solutions across air, space, maritime, and land. This includes defining architectural principles, overseeing system‑of‑systems design, and ensuring mission requirements align with technology maturity, security constraints, and lifecycle affordability. You will partner with senior leaders, program managers, and engineering teams to turn strategic intent into coherent, interoperable architectures for current and future operational concepts.

Reporting to the Vice President of MDI, you will serve as the technical focal point for all architecture efforts across multiple domains and security classifications (Unclassified to SCI/SAP). You will integrate capabilities from military, intelligence, civil, and commercial systems into cohesive system‑of‑systems solutions for missions such as anti‑surface warfare, missile defense, C‑C5ISRT, and others, while leading the definition, validation, and evolution of reusable, scalable, and secure architecture artifacts.

Key Responsibilities:

Architectural Leadership
    • Defining and maintaining the enterprise architecture framework for multi‑domain mission solutions
    • Developing reference architectures, standards, and guidelines that address technology maturity, interoperability, and security requirements
    • Championing the use of model‑based systems engineering (MBSE) and digital thread practices
Mission Solution Development
    • Leading the translation of mission requirements into integrated architecture concepts of operation and system‑of‑systems designs
    • Conducting architecture reviews and ensuring alignment with stakeholder expectations
    • Providing technical oversight for concept validation, trade studies, and prototype demonstrations
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
    • Partnering with leaders across the LM Business Areas to embed architectural thinking early in opportunity capture and program execution.
    • Coordinating with external partners, government agencies, and allied organizations on joint architecture initiatives
Infrastructure & Data Enablement
    • Defining the required modeling environments, data sets, and simulation tools to support architecture development and assessments at all security levels
    • Ensuring the availability and integrity of baseline data, configuration management, and version control for architectural artifacts
