DarkStar is one of the few industry-authorized enterprise-wide area networks (eWANs) in operation. Operating under a single Authority-to-Operate (ATO), DarkStar provides a secure, encrypted, shared backend that supports classified program in on-premises environments.
The Systems Engineer-IT will serve as an administrator for DarkStar production environments. Primary duties include deploying and configuring new systems, applying patches, validating and remediating security scans, resolving systems faults, and more. The role requires comfort working across Linux and Windows platforms and a strong orientation toward timely, hands‑on support of users and applications—an ideal foundation for developing deep technical expertise on unique, classified systems.
Basic Qualifications
- DoD 8140 IAT Level II compliant certification (or equivalent)
- Demonstrated experience with Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) processes or equivalent (HIPPA/PCI)
- Hands-on administration of both Linux/UNIX and Windows environments (installing, patching, configuration, and troubleshooting)
- Experience installing and maintating software applications, and performing vulnerability remediation and security management (using SCCM, Yum, Ivanti, Splunk, Trellix, etc.)
- Familiarity with scripting and command-line automation for workstations or servers (e.g., Ansible, Bash, or Powershell)
- US Citizenship required at this facility
Desired Skills
- Ability to obtain DoD Top Secret security clearance
- Experience with Active Directory
- Familiarity with ITIL incident-resolution workflow
- Experience with ITSM tools (ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence)
- Knowledge of HPC clusters
- Understanding of Red Hat OpenShift
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with enterprise managment components such as print management, account management, PXE imaging, performance monitoring, license management, etc.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $79300.00 - $147300.00

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
