Together, this national team supports the design, development, test, integration and fielding of hardware and software elements that enable the Missile Defense System (MDS) to function effectively and continually. You will also have the opportunity to interface with our key customers in the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).

The Work

The Project Engineer Asc will have the responsibility to support the I&T CAM/Project Engineer's work with I&T Leadership to manage, coordinate, and oversee the cross Agile Release Train. In this role the selected candidate will support the planning and execution of technical scope, schedule, and cost inputs for changes, ECPs and other customer engineering estimate requests. This individual will support development of I&T IMS Objective evidence, the collection of IMS status accounting, and will support cross spiral de-confliction, cross functional area coordination, and schedule/resource issue resolution. 

The Project Engineer Asc will be responsible for the following:

  • Support the I&T CAM/Project Engineer on the tactical mechanics and execution of the program's monthly Earned Value Management (EVM) rhythm
    • These mechanics of executing our monthly EVM rhythm include working heavily within the program's EVM tools (Excel analyses spreadsheets, inputs to PM Compass, Open Plan input spreadsheets, RASCAL and CAP sheets)
  • Performs weekly / monthly analyses of EVM data as directed by the I&T CAM/Project Engineer
  • Inputs come from Program Finance reports (e.g. weekly actuals, hours reports, teammate reports, Eaglespeed material data)
  • Analyze data for assigned control accounts & work packages
    • Provide summary level information/conclusions from this analysis to the CAM and I&T leadership (key drivers, anomalies, concerns, etc.) including elevating concerns to other impacted CAMs as well
    • Performs trending analysis of rate & volume of labor and/or material data 
    • Works to resolve any EVM anomalies and DDM metrics coming out of month end data within assigned accounts
    • Works to support CAM/Project Engineer in monthly IMS status, including performance, actuals, and estimates to complete
  • Support I&T CAM/Project Engineer in baseline change requests per the business rhythm
  • Support I&T CAM/Project Engineer with thorough variance analysis as well as any corrective actions driven by EVM process
  • Support I&T CAM/Project Engineer's engineering estimate or engineering change proposal activities as needed
  • Support work planning/baselining activities through the AGILE iteration planning cycles and continuous planning
  • Support annual CEAC exercises

Basic Qualifications

  • Qualified candidate must be able to obtain a DoD Interim Secret Security Clearance prior to starting this position. This requires US Citizenship. 
  • Engineering, Finance, Project Management, or Business Operations background
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, acceptance of responsibility, ability to meet deadlines
  • Willingness to learn and grow in a high-tempo program environment
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience
  • Must be a recent graduate of a CAM/EVM training course and completed OpenPlan, PM Compass or other EVM tool training within the last 2 years OR ability to complete within 6 months from employment start date

Desired Skills

  • Previous CAM or Earned Value leadership experience on DoD programs
  • Strong project management, program management, and/or technical lead experience
  • Experience or familiarity with software development and/or Agile Methodologies
  • Desire to enhance project management skills including communication, the ability to deal with unforeseen challenges, and building strong relationships
  • Experience or familiarity with software development and/or Agile Methodologies
  • Strong problem solving, root cause, corrective action, and closure skills
  • Ability to lead discussions and determine resolutions to problems
  • Experience working with EVM tools such as PM Compass, Microsoft Project, OpenPlan, eWAD, Winsight) and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Experience identifying IMS forecast and baseline changes via schedule change requests and "what if" schedules
  • Recent experience with DCMA Audits and Baseline Reviews preferably as the CAM, WPM or EV Lead answering the questions

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $58200.00 - $108200.00

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
