THE WORK
Lockheed Martin is seeking a talented level 2 Satellite Mission Engineer with an active Top Secret clearance to work from our Colorado Springs, CO - Schriever AFB location.  You will be joining the Death Valley Program as an on-site Ground Controller (GC) of a ground network. This is a shift-work position, and requires the ability to work any shift as required. 


Standard Job Description

  • Conducts mission/program specific real time spacecraft/satellite flight operations during readiness, execution and evaluation phases.
  • Develops detailed plans and procedures to provide maximum mission support in areas such as orbit dynamics, satellite performance analysis, command and control of on-orbit satellites.
  • Provides technical direction for on orbit mission support, plans for critical vehicle malfunctions and recommends alternate operating techniques to continue maximum mission support.
  • Provides failure analysis of the performance of the orbiting satellites via telemetry data. Utilizes system software to accomplish all spacecraft control tasks and recommends improvements.
  • Analyzes and validates software performance. Performs flight length orbit adjust and daily special event studies.

    This is an EMERGING PROFESSIONAL (level 2) ROLE where candidates typically require 1+ years of professional experience and a BS degree.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience in operation of command and control (C2) ground systems related to satellite operations.
  • Ability to support 24/7, 365 operations.
  • Active Top Secret clearance required for consideration.

Desired Skills

  • Security+ or other compliant cert
  • Proven diagnostic and troubleshooting experience.
  • Ground station communications, configuration, operation, and/or fault isolation experience
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Must be an effective communicator with strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $70500.00 - $130900.00

  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
