Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Full Time, Senior Level IT- System Engineer in Colorado Springs, CO.

In this role, you will perform a variety of technical tasks such as setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software.  The Successful candidate will have experience and/or knowledge of the following: ability to tackle detailed technical assignments often requiring learning or developing planning and integration skills; proficiency in project planning and product life cycle management; performing design assessments and developing data driven solutions.

 

Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access. This position will require a Top Secret government security clearance.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM field or related work experience (5 yrs) and/or technical training

Must have a Top Secret Clearance to start.  

CompTIA Security + or equivalent certification

Enterprise Level Windows Server and Linux  systems administration

Network Architecture & Protocol expertise

Proficient with low‑level troubleshooting utilities and system monitoring tools (e.g., ping, traceroute, nslookup, iperf, Wireshark, HP OpenView, LogRythm, Tripwire) and systematic           root‑cause analysis of latency, packet loss, and asymmetric routing scenarios

Hands‑on experience with VMware vSphere (ESXi, vCenter) and/or KVM clusters, including resource pools, DR‑S, and live migration strategies

Patch Management & Configuration Control

Scripting and Automation – PowerShell, Bash, and Python scripting for orchestration, log parsing, API interaction, and creation of reusable modules and functions to streamline repetitive workflows

Security Operations – Enforcement of least‑privilege RBAC models, STIG Hardening, RMF compliance, MFA implementation across privileged accounts, vulnerability remediation, and endpoint hardening aligned with NIST/ISO security frameworks

Desired Skills

Cryptological devices (TACLANEs, SKLs, and/or loading key materials)

Monitoring and maintenance of network attached storage (e.g., Dell EMC)

System backup/restoral and backup tools

Knowledge of database health and status checks is a plus

Systematic Problem‑Solving – Methodical, data‑driven diagnostic approach leveraging logs, metrics, and monitoring platforms (e.g., Splunk, Grafana, etc.) to isolate and resolve complex incidents

Technical Documentation & Knowledge Transfer

Cross‑Functional Collaboration – Partner effectively with senior engineers, development teams, and business users to align solutions with architectural standards and business objectives

Continuous Learning & Mentorship – Proactively pursue emerging technologies, certifications, and hands‑on labs; mentor junior staff and disseminate best practices t throughout the team

Multitasking & Prioritization – Manage concurrent projects while maintaining focus on service level agreement compliance and escalation protocol

Strategic Escalation & Communication – Recognize escalation thresholds, engage appropriate expertise promptly, and communicate status updates transparently to all parties

Technology Vigilance – Stay abreast of industry trends, threat landscapes, and vendor roadmaps; integrate new capabilities into existing environments to drive efficiency and resilience

Full-Time Salary Range: $104900.00 - $194700.00

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
