The Cyber First Line Manager role is a dynamic leadership position that bridges individual cybersecurity team member development with hands-on technical expertise. Serving as both a technical authority and a people manager, the First Line Manager contributes to technical solutions while fostering a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and accountability.
Key responsibilities include shaping career development pathways, partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to align solutions with cybersecurity mission needs and promoting Systems Security Engineering best practices.
Success in this position requires a blend of technical acumen, leadership skills, and the ability to proactively connect with subordinates in an intuitive and meaningful way.
Mentorship: Champion the growth of employees by through coaching, knowledge sharing, and career development, while ensuring alignment with company objectives.
Technical Leadership: Drive adherence to Systems Security Engineering best practices and principles.
Systems Security Engineering: Understand and be able to conduct Systems Security Engineering to deliver trustworthy secure systems that satisfy stakeholder protection needs within an established risk tolerance.
Basic Qualifications
Technical Qualifications:
Education: Possesses a bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or accreditations in cybersecurity engineering.
Experience: Minimum five years of professional experience incyber security, systems engineering, or a related field.
Technical Skills: Aptitude for solving challenging problems in a team environment. Experience with Agile methods. Experience with Defence domain.
Tools & Methodologies: Familiarity with WindChill™, Familiarity with Dynamic Object-OrientedRequirements System (DOORS)™, Familiarity with Cameo™, Familiarity with Systems Modelling Language(SysML) or other object-oriented design methodology.
Certifications: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification or equivalent.
Programming: Familiarity with Systems Modelling Language(SysML) or other object-oriented design methodology.
Licensing: Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) license would be an asset.
Eligbile for NATO Secret clearance in a timely manner.
