The Work
As a Design Engineer, you’ll develop major components and portions of functional systems, advanced prototypes, and production products. You’ll transform concepts into detailed designs while balancing performance, manufacturability, cost, and schedule.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Developing preliminary layouts, sketches, models, and design concepts to communicate proposed solutions.
- Designing assemblies, mechanisms, structures, and detailed parts using engineering drawings and 3D modeling tools.
- Evaluating design factors including manufacturability, material and equipment availability, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-to-weight efficiency, cost, and contractual requirements.
- Coordinating with engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and other organizations affected by design development.
- Reviewing drawings and layouts for accuracy, completeness, clarity, standards, specifications, calculations, and dimensional requirements.
- Identifying design errors, omissions, and deficiencies and recommending revisions or improvements.
- Supporting manufacturing operations and helping resolve design-related production issues.

Who You Are
You’re a hands-on problem solver who enjoys taking designs from concept through production. You bring strong mechanical design fundamentals, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across disciplines. Experience with 3D CAD, engineering drawings, GD&T, structural design, manufacturing processes, or aerospace products is highly valuable.

Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline from an accredited college.
* 9+ years of professional experience in Aerospace or related Mechanical Engineering Design discipline.
* 5+ years of Computer Aided Design experience with systems such as Catia V5/V6(3DX) for developing mechanical design models.
* Extensive technical expertise in structural design principles, material science and load analysis.
* Experience using technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques for solutioning complex problems.
Desired Skills
* 3+ years’ experience in design of composite airframe structure with Catia V5 and 3DX workbenches.
* Familiarity with model based system engineering for requirements flow down.
* Expertise with the use of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing for manufacturing fit and function.
* Willingness and ability to technically mentor early career talent.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $118000.00 - $219100.00

- Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.
- For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
