The Opportunity

Eligibility: Applicants must be Australian citizens and be eligible to obtain and maintain an active Australian Government Defence security clearance at the level required for the position.

Lockheed Martin Australia is awarding the AIR 6500 joint Air‑Battle‑Management System to the Royal Australian Air Force. As a DevSecOps Analyst – Staff (E1044I) you will be a key member of the Common Operating Environment (COE) team, responsible for designing, deploying and maintaining the automated build, test and release pipeline that powers AIR 6500’s software development life‑cycle.

You’ll work closely with developers, test engineers and project managers to:

  • Embed security by design across the entire SDLC.
  • Scale CI/CD and DevOps tooling for a multi‑domain, real‑time system.
  • Mentor junior team members and lead continuous‑improvement initiatives.

This role offers a unique chance to impact a high‑profile national defence program, leverage cutting‑edge cloud / container technologies, and shape secure software practices in a large, matrixed organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with developers to debug and resolve build/deployment issues.
  • Defining and enforcing source control, CI/CD and release-management best practices.
  • Building and maintaining CI/CD and DevOps infrastructure, including build agents, container orchestration and monitoring dashboards.
  • Monitoring DevOps infrastructure health and performance.
  • Automating software builds, checkout, testing, status notifications and system-integration activities.
  • Deploying and maintaining model-based engineering, development and project-management tools.
  • Implementing and auditing security controls against the ISM and relevant Defence frameworks.
  • Administering and securing DevSecOps-controlled hosts, including patching and hardening.
  • Mentoring junior team members and building team capability.
  • Conducting technical code reviews and documentation reviews.
  • Supporting procurement with evaluation, selection and licensing of AIR6500 engineering tools.

What you will bring

  • Agile Delivery: Proven experience participating in Scrum/SAFe teams, delivering commitments on schedule.
  • Containerization & Orchestration: Hands‑on experience with Podman and Kubernetes—building, testing, and scaling application containers/clusters.
  • Operating‑System Expertise: Deep familiarity with Linux and Windows environments; skilled in application deployment, hardening, and troubleshooting across both platforms.
  • Repository & CI/CD: Mastery of GitLab (source control, pipelines) and Nexus (artifact repository) for end‑to‑end continuous integration and deployment.
  • Infrastructure‑as‑Code (IaC): Extensive use of Ansible, Terraform, and Packer to provision, configure, and manage infrastructure.
  • Issue Management: Strong command of the Atlassian suite – planning in Jira, and documenting in Confluence.
  • Automation & Scripting: Advanced scripting in Bash, PowerShell, Python, and related tools to create reusable deployment applications.
  • Third‑Party Deployment: Deployment and lifecycle management of commercial software stacks on both Windows and Linux platforms.
  • Security Tooling: Deployment, configuration, and maintenance of SAST/DAST solutions within Lockheed‑Martin’s support environment.
  • Secure Supply Chain: End‑to‑end S3C (Secure Software Supply Chain) experience—SBOM generation, secure code signing, and attestation generation.
