Introduction

We are looking for a creative Electronics Engineer to join an exciting and dynamic team in designing, developing, testing, and troubleshooting complex avionics packages.

 

Location: This position does not support teleworking. You will need to live near our Lockheed Martin Space facility and be expected to work a flexible 9x80 schedule in the office full-time.

 

What does this role look like?

We want you to support the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) Program on the D5LE Avionics Development Team. You will lead the re-design, production, and deployment of heritage D5 Avionics packages to support the sustainment of the D5LE missile. This effort includes designing electrical components and packages from early prototype builds to development units, developing testing methodology for proof of design, bringing these designs through various technical reviews, and into full rate production. This role will work closely with the D5LE Tactical Avionics Subsystem CPE, D5LE Chief Engineer, and Navy technical partner.

Note: US citizenship and ability to obtain Top Secret clearance is required.

 

Key activities you will accomplish in this role:

  • Own the development of re-designing heritage Avionics packages
  • Coordinate across multiple supporting engineering organizations
  • Own the data products for Technical Interchange Meetings and program design reviews
  • Approach overly constrained technical issues with a creative, risk aware mindset
  • Execute in a fast-paced environmentEffectively communicate to various levels of leadership, inclusive of Navy counterparts, both technical and non-technical 


To be effective in this role, you will need:

• 8+ years professional experience.
• Willing and able to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance, thus you are a US Citizen.

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related STEM field from an accredited university
  • Prior professional experience with electrical hardware design or a closely related discipline.
  • Deep expertise across multiple electrical engineering domains, that could include:
    • Electrical hardware design for development and production phases in aerospace or a similar industry
    • Complex electrical schematics for circuit card assemblies (CCA), harnesses, and system-level interconnects
    • Root-cause analysis and corrective action for hardware failures
  • Must be a US Citizen; must be able to obtain/maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance

Desired Skills

  • Demonstrated experience leading the development of a product or capability from concept through development, qualification, and transition to production
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to brief executive leadership, customers, and non-technical audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to lead IPT efforts across multiple concurrent programs, present to program leadership and government customers, and manage multiple priorities
  • Active DoD Secret or Top-Secret clearance
  • Experience leading IRAD/CRAD programs
  • Master’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related STEM field
  • Cross-Business Area engagement and large-program technical-lead experience
  • Experience transitioning PCB/PWB designs into circuit card assemblies
  • Experience supporting proposal development, including technical volume authoring, basis-of-estimate, and competitive technical strategy on major hardware captures
  • Exceptional communication skills — ability to professionally communicate both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy to executive audiences
  • Experience with missile systems or hypersonic weapon systems across a program portfolio
  • Project management skillsets including leadership, planning/organization, risk management, and financial acumen at the program level
  • Successful proposal/capture leadership experience (BOE, technical volume authoring, technical strategy) on major hardware programs
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical investigations to determine root cause of hardware failures
  • Demonstrated effectiveness as a “player/coach” working with minimal supervision in fast-paced, multi-program environments
  • Strong mentoring track record with early and mid-career engineers
  • Experience with supplier management
  • Application of lessons learned and process improvement methodologies

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $145100.00 - $269500.00
