Standard Job Description

The candidate will participate in a structured cooperative educational/work program between Lockheed Martin Canada Inc. (Lockheed Martin) and a college/university where they are enrolled in an accredited degree program directly related to skills required by the company. Candidate will perform assigned tasks in technical/engineering disciplines e.g., Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering.

Specifically, the candidate will perform Software (SW) Build/DevOps work with a security focus related to the Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) Project. Scope of work involves development and maintenance of the CSC SW build system, Software Development Environment (SDE), and/or design of the CSC Tactical Operating Environment (TOE) serving as the framework to operate the CSC Combat Management System (CMS) and related SW.

This may include:

  • Requirements engineering
  • Detailed design
  • SW development in both Java and C++
  • Unit testing and documentation
  • Integration and deployment
  • Problem Solving
  • Working in an Agile team environment.

Basic Qualifications

  • Current student in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or substantially similar field
  • Aptitude for programming and debugging with the latest tools in an Object-Oriented environment
  • Knowledge of programming in Java and C++
  • Eligible for North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Secret Clearance in a timely manner
  • Ability to work 100% onsite
  • Available for 4 months starting in January 2027.

Desired Skills

  • Experience in Linux Administration and/or Networking highly desired
  • Knowledge in Groovy scripting languages and Gradle
  • Knowledge in container design and use
  • Knowledge of SW requirements engineering process
  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum SW development practices
  • Good communication skills, and ability to work both within a team and independently
  • Active Security Clearance will be considered an asset.
