In this role you will:
- Design, integrate, and test electro-optical (EO) components and active mirror systems across mission phases
- Develop high-power distribution architectures and grounding schemes, ensuring compliance with EMC/thermal requirements
- Design analog and digital subsystems for commanding and data acquisition
- Specify cable harness design and routing for harsh-environment applications
- Perform signal integrity analysis and testing of high-speed data and communication interfaces
- Specify electrical and EO components
- Own electrical subsystems and harnessing through the complete program life cycle (concept → design → verification → delivery → operations)
- Own subsystem and system-level electrical interfaces
- Generate grounding architectures for complex systems
- Work closely with cross-functional Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) (e.g. Systems, Optical, Mechanical, Thermal, Software)
- Identify and mitigate common pitfalls associated with Assembly, Integration, and Test (AIT) of complex EO systems
- Support hardware/software/circuitware integration activities during system AIT
- Lead cross-functional reviews and coordinate with systems engineering, software, and manufacturing to ensure requirement traceability
- Troubleshoot and resolve EO subsystem anomalies during testing and integration
- Produce and maintain technical documentation including design bundles, test plans, anomaly reports, and lessons-learned databases
Basic Qualifications
- Familiarity with a wide range of custom analog and digital control electronics using Embedded Microprocessors and Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs)
- Experience with circuit board design and layout
- Experience using engineering tools for electrical circuit board and cable harness design such as Altium, Zuken, Xpedition, OrCAD, etc.Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, OneNote, etc.
- Experience employing high efficiency DC-DC converter implementations and generating high power distribution architectures
- Understanding functional operation of photodiodes, cameras, position sensing devices, and associated interface electronics
- Understanding of data and communication interfaces such as 10 Gigabit Ethernet, RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, CameraLink, etc.
- Familiarity using test equipment such as high-speed signal/function generators, digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, etc.US Citizenship is required
Desired Skills
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education
- Familiarity with systems containing embedded monitoring and data logging
- Familiarity with VMEbus International Trade Association (VITA) industry standards for VPX-based embedded computing systems
- Familiarity with server-based embedded computing system hardware specification and integration
- Experience designing and integrating high voltage q-switch drivers
- Experience designing thermal electric cooler drivers for precision temperature control of sensitive components
- Generally has 8+ years of related experience and may have a post-secondary degree or training in a related discipline.
- Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $185400.00 - $344400.00

- Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.
- For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
