Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer Intern in Orlando, FL. In this role, you will develop and maintain embedded software applications and/or desktop applications. Tasks will involve requirements, design, code, test, and integrate software for an embedded multi-core system as well as desktop computer applications for emulation of sensors and countermeasures. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of object-oriented C++ concepts and experience with Linux OS.
Candidates filling this position will need US citizenship and will need a clearance at the level specified in “Clearance Level” or will need the ability to get a clearance if not specified. In addition to meeting security clearance requirements, the candidate may need to be approved to work Special Access Program (SAP) prior to the start of employment.
What You Will Be Doing
As an Embedded Software Engineer Intern, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Develop Embedded Software to include drivers, state machines, multi-threaded applications, etc.
- Integrate complex algorithms into C++ applications
- Design, develop, document, test, and debug software for both logical and mathematical solutions as well as software for controlling tactical hardware
- Apply knowledge of computer hardware and software, while referencing Artificial Intelligence in a responsible manner in accordance with Lockheed, contractual, and governmental policies to accelerate documentation, development, and functional tests.
- Contribute to detailed design architectures, ensuring architecture and source code remain in alignment.

Basic Qualifications
• Demonstrated software development experience in C++
• Ability to obtain DoD Clearance
• Must be US Citizen
• Must be working towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related software discipline
Desired Skills
• Experience working Operating systems / familiarity with OS concepts. This may include: Linux, Windows, Unix, VxWorks, Operating Systems Coursework, etc.
• Hardware experience (Arduino, STMxx, Xilinx, any FPGA Programmable Software.
• Strong understanding of C++ Object Oriented design and inheritance concepts.
• Understanding of basic multi-threading concepts.
• Working with large code base.
• DevSecOps tool chain experience (this may include Git, GitHub, BitBucket).
• Software configuration management.
• Full software life-cycle development.
• Software integration and debugging techniques.
• Demonstrated software development experience in C / Python.
• Familiarity with Agile practices.
• Prior embedded internships are a bonus, but not required.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $26.81 - $30.97

- For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
