You will be the Additive Manufacturing Operations Technician for the Missiles and Fire Control (MFC) Additive Manufacturing team. Our team is responsible for supporting daily additive manufacturing operations within the AMPLFI Center, enabling research, development, and production-focused manufacturing activities across a growing set of applications.

In this entry-level role, you will support machine operations and post-processing activities that help move additive builds efficiently through the manufacturing workflow. This position is ideal for a motivated, hands-on individual with experience in fabrication, machining, assembly, or related shop environments.

 

What You Will Be Doing
As the Additive Manufacturing Operations Technician, you will support day-to-day additive manufacturing operations, including machine support, part handling, post-processing, inspection support, and material flow through the AMPLFI Center.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

 

Additive Manufacturing Operations

  • Support the daily operation of additive manufacturing equipment in the AMPLFI Center.
  • Assist with running 3D printers in accordance with established work instructions, safety requirements, and production priorities.
  • Support machine setup, startup, monitoring, and shutdown activities.
  • Help maintain machine readiness, cleanliness, and organization across the work area.

Build Processing & Post-Processing

  • Perform depowdering of printed builds using approved procedures and equipment.
  • Support movement of parts through required post-processing steps, including:
    • heat treatment furnace operations
    • HIP furnace processing
    • EDM support
    • build plate resurfacing
    • blue light scanning
    • packaging and shipping
  • Handle parts and materials carefully to ensure product quality and safe processing.

Shop Support & Workflow Execution

  • Assist with fabrication, machining, assembly, and general shop support activities as needed.
  • Follow standard work instructions and technical direction to support efficient and compliant execution.
  • Record production or job status information and maintain accurate documentation of completed work.
  • Support material staging, movement, and organization of parts, consumables, and shop supplies.

Safety, Quality & Team Support

  • Maintain safe work habits when working around industrial equipment, metal powders, thermal processing equipment, and shop tools.
  • Perform basic visual inspection and support scanning or verification activities as required.
  • Communicate issues, support troubleshooting efforts, and contribute to continuous improvement in AM operations.
  • Work closely with technicians, engineers, and operations personnel to support daily manufacturing objectives.

This position is in Grand Prairie, Texas.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Hands-on experience in fabrication, machining, assembly, manufacturing, or related shop operations.
  • Ability to follow work instructions, safety procedures, and technical direction.
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with manufacturing equipment, tools, and hardware.
  • Ability to perform physical shop-related tasks, including standing for extended periods, lifting materials, and moving parts as required.
  • Willingness to learn additive manufacturing processes and support a fast-paced operations environment.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain a Secret clearance. Clearance is not required to start.

Desired Skills

  • Experience operating shop, manufacturing, or process equipment.
  • Familiarity with additive manufacturing or 3D printing environments.
  • Exposure to metal additive manufacturing post-processing workflows.
  • Experience with post-processing methods such as depowdering, furnace processing, EDM, machining, or surface finishing.
  • Experience with metal working processes such as welding, cutting, grinding, or forming.
  • Experience with inspection or scanning equipment, including blue light scanning, is a plus.
  • Basic computer skills for production tracking, documentation, or workflow systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to document work clearly.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based manufacturing environment.
  • Motivated and dependable with a strong work ethic.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $57800.00 - $107400.00

PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
