Manages the research, planning, design and development of mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions. Directs application of research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.

Fleet Ballistic Missiles (FBM) is one of Lockheed Martin’s outstanding Lines of Businesses that prioritizes partnership, integrity, and reliability. The Life Extension 2 (LE2) team is an organization within the greater FBM program which supports the development of the next generation system by developing concepts, researching, and maturing technologies to support the development of the next FBM Missile System.
As a Mechanical and Propulsion Engineering Asc. Manager you will lead a team of engineers to support the design and development of a complex propulsion hot gas attitude control system. You will be responsible for driving integration with other Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and ensuring close collaboration to ensure a sound technical solution. You will be responsible for the teams; execution, schedule, budget, subcontracts, and personnel.
Basic Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience leading a team as a technical lead, LM L-Code lead, or similar management role
- Experience with flight hardware or equivalent complex hardware systems
- Demonstrated ability to work across organizational boundaries
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
Desired Skills
- Missile and/or aerospace related education or experience- Experience with engineering principles of space propulsion systems
- Highly effective communication skills, including ability to explain complex concepts, lead reviews, and negotiate requirements
- Ability to operate in a dynamic environment and tackle numerous roles as part of the daily program operations
- Willingness to wear multiple hats and do whatever is needed to help your team succeed
- Experience working with partner engineering organizations
Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $118000.00 - $219100.00

- For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
