Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Level 4 Systems Engineer to be the onsite Ground Operations System Lead for a role based in Fairfax, VA.The Lead will travel as needed. As a Systems Engineer, you will lead the operations team, maintain service availability, and ensure targets are met in a regulated environment.  You will partner with engineering, logistics, program management, safety and security teams, delivering leadership in a space infrastructure context, with a focus on SBAS/GNSS systems and flight-critical milestones.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership to the operations team in a regulated environment
  • Manage the ground operational aspects of the program.
  • Oversee operation of ground segment systems
  • Coordinate maintenance planning and configuration updates.
  • Engage with stakeholders across engineering, logistics, program management, the project team, safety and security to minimize disruptions
  • Review status manages schedules and prepares status reports.
  • Assess project issues and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and requirement satisfaction goals.
  • Plan and coordinate guidance to ensure teams are informed of events impacting execution.

Other Major Responsibilities:

Subcontractor Engineering Support – Technical Oversight of a key subcontractor.  Support to supply chain for subcontract technical oversight, review of subcontractor produced material (operational procedure development, safety related material). Review of proposals, generation of tech evals, etc.  Support for issue tracking, resolution and escalation. Technical coordination with task owners to ensure proper tracking and management.

Cross Disciplinary Coordination of LMS E&T staff tasking/status, to work through issues/blockers across the team. Support LMS leadership activities (e.g. performance reporting, meetings, actions, program reviews, etc.) as needed. Support to modification request / proposal activities. Working with contracts to ensure alignment of prime contract technical requirements across the program organization. Support to program management to bridge technical and programmatic needs as required. Support to internal/external meetings as required.

Travel: Up to > 15 % travel (mostly international and some domestic)

New hires to LM for this position may be eligible to receive a one-time lump sum sign on bonus up to $10,000

Basic Qualifications

 
  • Ground Systems Operations domain expertise
  • Experience with operational procedure development and human factors engineering
  • Leadership experience of multidisciplinary teams in 24/7 operational environments.
  • Subcontract management experience of diverse international team.
  • Ability to deliver results under pressure

Desired Skills

  • Analytical and problem solving experience with GNSS/SBAS systems algorithms.
  • Knowledge of SBAS formats, ionospheric/tropospheric correction models, and system engineering standards,
  • Experience with safety certification or security accreditation for space infrastructures.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $118000.00 - $219100.00
