Standard Job Description
You will be the F-35 Aircraft Mechanic for the Aircraft Maintenance Team which is responsible for keeping the F‑35 fleet flight‑ready and safe. This position is located in Fort Smith, AR.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Perform visual inspections of aircraft wheels, tires, hubs, and related components to detect damage, wear, or defects.
- Disassemble, clean, inspect, repair, and re‑assemble wheels, tires, hubs, and brake assemblies in accordance with JTD procedures and safety standards.
- Execute wheel‑wheel assembly, tire mounting, and balancing operations; verify proper torque and alignment specifications.
- Apply protective coatings, sealants, and corrosion‑prevention treatments; perform surface preparation and quality checks.
- Record all maintenance actions, inspection results, and parts usage in the ALIS with accurate, timely entries.
- Coordinate with supply for requisition, receipt, and issue of spare parts, consumables, and special tools; ensure inventory accuracy.
- Support quality assurance and compliance audits by providing documentation, test data, and corrective‑action reports.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on pressurization equipment, and related shop tools; schedule calibrations and repairs as needed.
- Identify and implement continuous‑improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce rework, and increase safety in the back‑shop workflow.
- Enforce workplace safety procedures, use appropriate PPE, and conduct hazard assessments for all wheel‑and‑tire operations.
- Provide on‑call and standby support for aircraft turnaround, emergency tire changes, and urgent wheel repairs during flight line operations.
- Mentor and train junior technicians and apprentices on inspection techniques, repair processes, and safety protocols.
- Stay current with F‑35 program updates, service bulletins, and technical orders; incorporate new requirements into daily work practices.

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must possess an active Secret clearance to start. The position will require working first (1st), second (2nd), or third (3rd) shift(s). Position may also require extended work hours. Candidate must be able to acquire and keep a flight line driver's competency card.

Basic Qualifications
The following Basic Qualifications are skills that a candidate must possess to be considered for this position:
- Requires minimum of 2 years hands-on working experience with a mechanical/tire background
- Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
- Must be able to obtain and keep a secret clearance and must have at least an interim secret clearance to start.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift moderate loads (≈ 50 lb), and work in confined shop zones.
- Ability to troubleshoot assembly issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with engineers, quality inspectors, and other shop‑floor teams.
Desired Skills
The following Desired Skills are not required but are those skills that would set a candidate apart from the other candidates:
- Knowledge of Safety, Tool Control, Foreign Object damage (FOD), Supply, Hazardous Material (HAZMAT), Quality, and Security programs
- Ability to travel, to include short notice and overseas.
-Prior work on high‑precision, safety‑critical hardware (landing‑gear, rotor‑brake systems, or similar) is highly valued.
- Experience performing in a role of task trainer
- Valid US Passport
- Organized, Detail oriented.
- Basic Excel knowledge.
- Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
- Experience with tool control management.
- Attention to detail.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $25.00 - $46.44
