Job Description
Job Title:  F-22 Ground Release Captain (RTE/STE) - E5
Posting Start Date:  11/5/26

Standard Job Description

Lockheed Martin Aeronautics is seeking an experienced IMIS Release Captain (similar to a Release Train Engineer or Solution Train Engineer) to join the F-22 IMIS Product Integration Team (PIT).  The IMIS PIT coordinates and ensures overall technical execution for F-22 Ground Systems releases.  In this critical role, you will be responsible for leading the IMIS‑ground release schedule, content, and milestone achievement.  Ensure that all ground‑system hardware and software increments are integrated, tested, and delivered on time to support Combat Air Force activities. Act as the primary liaison between Capability Leads, Engineering Teams, and the Product Integration Team (PIT) to keep the ground‑system release pipeline healthy and on track.

Key Responsibilities

  • Release Schedule Development & Maintenance – Create and sustain the IMIS‑ground release schedule (monthly, weekly, daily) that drives integration builds, test cut‑offs, and delivery events for the ground system releases
  • Capability Lead Partnership – Collaborate with Capability Leads to verify that ground‑system milestones are realistic, properly sequenced, and integrated into the overall release timeline.
  • Product Line Coordination – Coordinate with Product Line Teams to ensure ground hardware and software tasks are started early enough to meet net‑new‑content and net‑new‑defect cut‑offs preceding FDR, FCA, and other activities
  • Integration Oversight – Monitor integration points to ensure ground builds flow smoothly into lab test environments and flight‑test preparation activities; flag and resolve interface conflicts or build‑breaking issues.
  • Weekly Release‑Execution Meeting Leadership – Chair the weekly PIT meeting with Capability Leads and Release Captains; provide concise status updates, risk flags, and decision points to keep the release pipeline moving.
  • Post‑Production Build & Certification Oversight – Oversee post‑production build activities that result in FDR, Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) submittals, EOFC 6 activities, FCA, and TCTO completion; ensure all documentation and compliance evidence are current and complete.
  • Cross‑System Contention Resolution – Resolve cross‑block interruption/contention issues between ground and airborne systems in support of enterprise priorities; coordinate rapid‑reaction responses for issues identified during the release cycle.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in release pipelines, or equivalent management or leadership
  • Proven experience developing and maintaining release schedules (monthly/weekly/daily) in a fast‑paced development, production, or sustainment environment.
  • Hands‑on coordination experience across Agile Teams at scale.
  • Working knowledge of product delivery processes and documentation
  • Experience with integration builds, lab testing, and production deployment for systems
  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain required Department of Defense security clearance of Secret or higher as well as any SAP requirements

Desired Skills

  • Familiarity with IMIS tools, Earned Value Management (EVM), or Agile Tools (e.g., VersionOne, JIRA)
  • Previous experience serving as a Release Captain, Release Train Engineer (RTE), or Capability Lead
  • Knowledge of Open System Architecture, COTS integration, or ground‑systems
  • Experience with root‑cause corrective action (RCCA) and defect management within a release pipeline.
  • Certification in project management (PMP, CAPM) or systems engineering (INCOSE CSAP/CSM) is a plus.
  • Prior exposure to radar, CNI, IRST, EW, GPS, or other sensor ground‑system integration activities.
