Manages more than one functional area in Quality, Reliability, Test, or Inspection. Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions. Responsible for resource allocation, work assignments and establishing/maintaining an effective business rhythm. Responsible for all aspects of quality for assigned area of responsibility. Communicates quality requirements, concerns and expectations. Active participant in risk and opportunity management processes. Ensures cost commitments and financial responsibilities are met. Ensures appropriate identification and flow down of quality requirements (internal and contractual) and effective implementation of quality requirements. Ensures effective implementation of quality management system within area of responsibility. Ensures effective implementation of a metrics program and actively address adverse trends. Ensures product acceptance and delivery per established process and program requirements. Note: This job code will be used for quality personnel that have lead responsibility for a program with one or more quality disciplines.
This position will lead the Q&MS Laboratory functions across all LM Aero sites with personnel in Fort Worth, Marietta, Palmdale, & Greenville. Laboratories include Process Control, NDT Engineering, and Calibration. Laboratory functions include chemical process control, metallurgy, failure analysis, NDI procedure development, calibration processes and containment policies. Position is also responsible for managing acquisition and implementation of capital assets across Q&MS for Aero. The position manages analysts, engineers, scientists, metrologists, and hourly personnel in calibration and nondestructive testing. Approximately 120 personnel report to this Organization including 4 managers, 3 supervisors, and 45-50 represented personnel. Financially the position is responsible for approximately $3.5 - 5M in supplies & outside services, excluding labor
Basic Qualifications
STEM Degree in Engineering or one of the Physical Sciences
Minimum 12 years’ professional aerospace experience
3+ Years of Management experience in a laboratory environment
Working knowledge of AS9100 Quality requirements
Demonstrated budget management
Prior experience managing the acquisition of factory equipment, capital assets & implementing equipment into production
Interfacing at all levels of management for Production, Engineering & Quality
Demonstrated experience working with Structures, DADT, M&P Engineering management
Excellent Communication skills
Must be able to obtain DOD Secret clearance.
Desired Skills
Advanced degree in a STEM or financial management field
Experience managing $1M+ budgets
Familiarity with Nondestructive Testing procedure, Laboratory testing & Calibration policies
Experience managing organizations across multiple sites
Directing personnel for field assignment at customer or LM locations
Experience oversight & management of skills certification programs
Acquiring & bidding proposal development for new & existing contracts
Experience with Aircraft Structural Integrity Program (ASIP) requirements and collaboration with ASIP engineering specialists.
Experience with automated inspection equipment
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $158700.00 - $294700.00
