You will be the Senior Software Engineer - Level 3 for the Vehicle Management Software Team which is responsible for developing modular and reusable software for aircraft subsystems.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Senior Software Engineer - Level 3 you will be responsible for advancing software that enables aircraft to fly, working across embedded avionics, ground station development, and mission systems.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Full software lifecycle development spanning avionics services, ground station development, and mission system technologies.
- Support ground station development for manned and unmanned systems.
- Develop simulations to aid software development and testing.
- Interface with software and systems engineers to define requirements for rapid prototypes.
- Participate in integration and test events.
Plans, conducts, and coordinates software development activities. Designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business/mission problems or questions in computer language for solutions by means of data processing equipment. Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle. Applies knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter to be programmed in business/mission applications, information processing techniques used, and information gathered from system users to develop software. Corrects program errors, prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls. Ensures software standards are met.
Basic Qualifications
• 4-year degree in B.S. Computer Science, B.S Computer Engineering or B.S. Electrical Engineering
• Technical leadership and mentoring of small teams
• Experience with C/C++ programming languages
• Experience with Linux or RTOS (real time operating systems) and associated development toolchains
• Experience with developing software for avionics systems
• Experience with the software development process in a team environment (peer reviews, unit testing, configuration management, defect tracking)
• Experience with integrating hardware and software
• Must be comfortable working in a lab environment and understand distributed systems
• Secret with Investigation or CV date within 5 years
Desired Skills
• Experience in scripting languages (e.g. python)
• Experience using agile software development tools and methodologies (e.g. Git, JIRA, Jenkins, Confluence, etc.)
• Experience with Modeling and Simulation
• Experience with AFSIM
• Experience with image generators and associated interfaces (e.g., CIGI)
• Experience with frontend development (e.g., Qt)
• Experience with backend development, transport, and messaging protocols, (e.g., UDP, TCP, Multicast, DDS, AMQ, etc.)
• Experience with distributed simulation environments and associated standards (e.g., DIS, HLA, etc.)
• Ability to build/maintain relationships and collaborate effectively with others
• Strong decision making and judgment skills
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $98100.00 - $182100.00

PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
