Standard Job Description
Lockheed Martin Missiles & Fire Control is looking for an Associate Manager, Manufacturing Engineering to lead the Tool Planning team (≈6 engineers). The team uses Windchill MPMLink, SAP and Apriso to develop process plans for the fabrication and modification of special tooling—assembly fixtures, drill jigs, mill fixtures, etc.—required to manufacture missiles and missile‑launching systems.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead the tool planning team to deliver special tooling that meet aggressive program and production schedules.
- Drive continuous‑improvement of tooling processes using data‑driven analysis, lean principles, and industry best‑practice adoption.
- Provide technical guidance to tool planners.
- Coordinate cross‑functional solutions between Production Operations, Program Engineering, and other stakeholders to resolve tooling challenges.
- Analyze and resolve programmatic issues, ranging from routine changes to complex, high‑risk problems.
- Work with tool design and operations to support investigations into design, producibility, and assembly challenges and develop corrective action plans.
- Partner with Global Supply Chain to align procurement with tooling requirements and delivery dates.
- Maintain transparent communication of key milestones, risks, and status updates to senior leadership and program stakeholders.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience leading teams
- Experience working with special tooling (assembly fixtures, drill jigs, mill fixtures, etc.)
- Proficiency with PLM/ERP systems (e.g., Windchill MPM Link, SAP)
- Data and process-driven mindset
- Desire to drive innovation and collaboration
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams
- Knowledge of manufacturing
- Knowledge of Cause and Corrective Action
- Excellent oral and written communication
Desired Skills
- Final Secret Clearance
- Experience with Mechanical Fabrication
- Experience with CNC Machining
- Understanding of GD&T
- Knowledge of QA processes
- Lean six sigma training, i.e., Green Belt or Black Belt certified
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $104900.00 - $194700.00
