Standard Job Description
Lockheed Martin is a global security and aerospace company that employs approximately 114,000 people worldwide and is principally engaged in the research, design, development, manufacture, integration, and sustainment of advanced technology systems, products, and services. Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control (MFC) is one of four Lockheed Martin business areas.
We are growing rapidly and seeking to hire a Sr Reliability Engineer.
What you will be doing:
• Develop, coordinate and conduct technical reliability and testability studies and evaluations of engineering design concepts and design of experiments.
• Work with hardware/software engineering groups/ability to articulate BIT design objectives
• Develop fault detection methods for all manners of hardware critical failure modes/work with engineering for implementation
• Lead Failure Mode, Effects, and Criticality Analyses (FMECA) and produce reliability block diagrams and quantitative predictions.
• Create, execute, and track reliability growth plans; perform growth analysis to ensure program contracts are satisfied.
• Support design reviews, test events, and configuration control processes (ECP, CSB, CCB).
• Recommend design or test methods and statistical process control procedures for achieving required levels of product reliability and Fault Detection
• Compile and evaluate performance reports and process control statistics; investigate and analyze relevant variables potentially affecting product and processes
• Ensure that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards
• Evaluate preliminary plans and develop reliability engineering programs to achieve company, customer and governmental agency reliability objectives
• Develop mathematical models to identify units, batches or processes posing excessive failure risks
• Propose changes in design or formulation to improve system and/or process reliability
• Determine units and/or batches requiring environmental testing, and specifies minimum number of samples to obtain statistically valid data
Develops, coordinates and conducts technical reliability studies and evaluations of engineering design concepts and design of experiments (doe) constructs. Recommends design or test methods and statistical process control procedures for achieving required levels of product reliability. Compiles and analyzes performance reports and process control statistics; investigates and analyzes relevant variables potentially affecting product and processes. Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards. Analyzes preliminary plans and develops reliability engineering programs to achieve company, customer and governmental agency reliability objectives. May develop mathematical models to identify units, batches or processes posing excessive failure risks. As necessary, proposes changes in design or formulation to improve system and/or process reliability. May determine units and/or batches requiring environmental testing, and specifies minimum number of samples to obtain statistically valid data.

• 3–5 years of hands-on reliability and testability engineering experience, with demonstrated expertise in component level FMECA and accelerated aging/thermal cycling tests.
• Review specifications from and derive requirements in support of testability objectives/advocate for DFT in hardware design
• Proficiency with reliability analysis and Testability standards (such as MIL STD 1629A, MIL STD 2165, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of failure physics, degradation mechanisms, and material behavior under stress.
• Ability to develop and interpret test plans using ASTM, IEC, or MIL test methods.
• Requirements development, system design, problem analysis and resolution, and integration and test
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent analyses and test programs, meet deadlines, and maintain documentation control.
