Standard Job Description
Plans, implements, tests, documents, and maintains solutions for the integration and testing of in-house developed and COTS/GOTS components, elements, subsystems and/or systems. Synthesizes customer contractual needs and requirements into system test solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule and cost constraints. Establishes functional and technical specifications and standards, solves hardware/software interface problems, defines input/output parameters, and ensures integration of the entire system or subsystem. Reviews, evaluates and derives requirements for testability, develops and directs preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures and schedules for complete systems and/or subsystems. Coordinates subsystem and/or system testing activities with programs and other organizations. Performs analysis of test results and prepares comprehensive subsystem and/or system level evaluation reports which verify and validate system performance. Writes discrepancy reports and performs integration regression testing to verify/validate incorporated fixes to software, components, subsystems and systems.
The candidate will be involved in the Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) Program, including Ship Integration and Design work from CSC Combat Systems. This position which will require frequent interfacing across customer, sub-contractor, and internal teams.
The candidate will function in a fast-paced multi-disciplined team environment, and participate in all appropriate Ship Combat Systems Integration (CSI) and Design activities including but not limited to:
- Coordinate and support Cable design generation, validation, trouble-shooting and quality assurance
- Maintenance of a high standard of professional excellence
- Attend Irving Shipbuilding Inc. (ISI), sub-contractor, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), and internal Lockheed Martin meetings as required
- Resolution of Ship Integration and Design Cross Product Team (CPT) related issues and discrepancies with the customer
- Liaison with respective Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), OEMs, Subcontract Administrators (SCAs), etc. to resolve technical issues in support of Ship Integration and Design work activity
- Support/implement initiatives to improve Ship Combat Systems Installation, Integration and test program efficiencies and minimize rework
- Share lessons learned with peers and co-workers across the organization
- Track and report metrics and status of cable deliverables both internal and with customers and sub-contractors.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Science or related field
- 10 + years’ combined technical and management experience in a related field
- 10 + years’’ experience in related Naval or ship Cable engineering environment
- Demonstrated capability to perform well in difficult or ambiguous situations
- Strong relationship-building skills
- Aptitude for providing technical guidance and solving challenging problems
- Works well individually or in a team environment
- Possess outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of Naval Combat Systems would be considered an asset
- Ability to acquire North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Secret Security clearance.
