Standard Job Description

Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

As part of the Product Engineering team, the candidate will lead the design, integration, and evolution of hardware product solutions supporting next-generation Naval Combat Management Systems. The role brings together system design, equipment selection, hardware configuration, product requirements, platform constraints, and operational needs to deliver cohesive, supportable, and mission-ready hardware solutions.

Specific position responsibilities

The candidate will perform the following:

  • Lead hardware product solution definition for Naval CMS programs.
  • Translate operational and system-level needs into practical hardware solutions.
  • Drive hardware equipment selection, configuration, and product evolution.
  • Coordinate hardware solutions across consoles, processing equipment, displays, networks, peripherals, and supporting equipment.
  • Establish coherent hardware product configurations across different naval platforms and shipset variants.
  • Identify risks and opportunities for standardization, reuse, modernization, and technology insertion.
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineering, Software, Integration, Configuration Management, Supply Chain, and Production Operations teams.
  • Support customer engagements, technical discussions, trade studies, and solution demonstrations.
  • Maintain alignment between the hardware product baseline and evolving CMS requirements.
  • Support to project planning and execution tracking.
  • Work scope Basis of Estimate (BOE) development.

Basic Qualifications

Required Skills

  • Possesses a bachelor’s in engineering or related area of study with minimum five years of professional experience in field, or minimum three years of professional experience with a related master’s degree
  • Communicates effectively with technical and non-technical members of the engineering/management staff and personnel assigned to related work
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tool suite.
  • Familiarity with Model Based System Engineering (MBSE)
  • Aptitude for solving challenging problems in a team environment
  • Knowledge of requirement management for HW lifecycle, from design to procurement and obsolescence

  • Experience leading product development via Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Familiarity with Earned Value Management
  • Experienced in project management and planning tools such as Microsoft Project
  • Familiarity with Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS), Cameo, Jira, Windchill, Confluence
  • Familiarity with configuration management processes
