About the role

We're looking for an SSE Electrical Engineer (Entry Level) to join or team based from Faslane, Helensburgh.  

This role benefits from our 9/75 working pattern giving you every other Friday off.

As a full‑time member of the Launcher Surface Support Equipment team, you will conduct preventive and corrective maintenance, operate, and load‑test electrical and mechanical systems. Conducting tasks in a highly prescriptive environment to support Submarine and shore based SWS systems and equipment. 

• Conduct electrical fault finding (240v / 120v / 440v / Single / Three Phase, Single or Multiple source) and electrical isolations in support of defect rectification.
• Experience interpreting electrical schematics and technical diagrams.
• Adherence to facility electrical governance and policy specific to electrical work.
• Be the point of contact for electrical issues, work alongside the ESH department and Base Facilities and draft related Safe Systems of Work. Strict adherence to all Health and Safety protocols.  
• Occasional requirement to travel to other UK and USA sites.
• Requirement to support occasional overtime and on-call periods as required by operational demand.
• Attend scheduled training, maintain a Professional Development Record, and, once suitably qualified, deliver internal training courses.
• Operation of overhead crane, Forklift Trucks, Scissor-Lift, Cherry Picker, including working at height. 

Requisite training will be provided in maintenance and operation of equipment.

Required skills, qualifications and experience

• SVQ Level 3 Electrical power isolations and testing.
• Proven experience in a hands-on Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technician role.
• Proficient in using of Microsoft Office 365.
• Ability to work as a member of a team, or as an individual, taking ownership of tasks to drive through to completion.
• Pro-active approach to developing solutions and responding to emergent challenges. 

Desired Skills

• Experienced / qualified operating Forklift Trucks, Scissor-Lift and Cherry Picker
• Experienced in writing technical reports
