This position is for a System Engineer within Lockheed Martin (LM) Data and AI Enablement (D&Ae) supporting the Enterprise Operation (EO) business area. The work location can be any major Lockheed Martin facility; full-time telecommuters will also be considered.
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability analyses for SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform environments. Responsibilities include design, development, administration, and optimization of BusinessObjects systems based on business intelligence requirements and user specifications. Applies systems analysis techniques and procedures, including consulting with business users and report developers to determine hardware, software, system configurations, and functional specifications for the BI platform.
Administers all aspects of the BusinessObjects Platform lifecycle including installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, performance tuning, security administration, system monitoring, disaster recovery planning, and eventual decommissioning. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of business reporting requirements into scalable BI solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
Performs functional analysis, capacity planning, performance optimization studies, requirements gathering, and interface definition to translate business intelligence needs into technical specifications and system configurations. Conducts detailed analysis of Universe design, report performance, system resource utilization, and security models to ensure optimal platform operation. Collaborates with cross-functional teams, external vendors, and stakeholders to evaluate, implement, and maintain BI tools and governance solutions. Provides troubleshooting and resolution of system issues through O&M ticket management and on-call support to ensure high availability and performance of production BI environments.
Standard Job Description of Systems Engineer-IT role:
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems, and information technology related responsibilities including design, development, and analysis of computer systems or programs based on and related to user or system design specifications; applying systems analysis techniques and procedures, including consulting with users to determine hardware, software, or system functional specifications. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. For positions that do not perform IT responsibilities, use E146, Systems Engineer.
Basic Qualifications
- US Citizenship
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience administering SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform (BOBJ) in an enterprise production environment
- Demonstrated experience with BOBJ system administration including installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and performance tuning
- Strong knowledge of BOBJ architecture, including Web Intelligence (WebI), Crystal Reports, Information Design Tool (IDT), and Universe design
- Experience with system monitoring tools and implementing proactive monitoring strategies for enterprise BI platforms
- Proficiency in troubleshooting complex technical issues in production environments and providing timely resolution
- Experience managing disaster recovery planning and implementation for business intelligence platforms
- Strong understanding of security administration, user access management, and authentication mechanisms (LDAP, SSO, Active Directory)
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and provide on-call support as needed
- Excellent communication skills with ability to interface with stakeholders, vendors, and cross-functional teams
Desired Skills
- Experience with Wiiisdom 360Suite or similar BI monitoring and governance tools
- Experience with BOBJ migration projects and cross-platform integrations
- Familiarity with SAP HANA, SAP Data Services (BODS), or other SAP ecosystem products
- Scripting or automation experience (PowerShell, Python, Shell scripting) for administrative tasks
- Experience with Service Central or ServiceNow ticketing systems
- Experience with Agile/SAFe development methodologies

GeoZone Definition: GeoZones are geographic groupings created by Lockheed Martin to align compensation ranges with regional labor markets and cost-of-labor differences across the United States. Locations are assigned a Geo Zone based on the primary work location of the role.
- Full-time salary range (GEOZONE 1): $131100.00 - $243500.00
