The Technical Trainer is responsible for planning, developing, and delivering high-impact training programs and procedures for technical products or solutions, ensuring the workforce can safely and efficiently execute load, launch, test, and sustainment activities. This role analyzes training needs and designs targeted programs, develops comprehensive lesson plans, course content, and methodology, and manages delivery across multiple formats—including adult-focused, military, and field support environments. The trainer provides technical instruction to diverse audiences such as Navy Sailors, engineers, maintenance personnel, customers, and field support staff, blending deep subject-matter expertise with proven instructional design skills. Key collaborations include working closely with program managers, systems engineers, test & evaluation teams, and technical organizations to align training content with evolving system specifications and mission requirements. The trainer prepares product demonstrations, coordinates the development of training aids, administers evaluations, and continuously revises lesson plans to reflect new product features, updated technical information, and emerging training requirements. This position ensures training effectiveness through ongoing assessment and refinement, supporting the safe and mission-ready execution of conventional prompt strike and other critical system operations.
Standard Job Description: Plans, develops, and implements technical product training programs for customers, and/or employees, and field support personnel. Technical training may include standard, repeatable modules, customized and new product modules. Obtains information from customer and technical organizations, engineering, software and product requirements to prepare training programs; prepares lesson plans and training materials; designs product demonstrations; develops course content; determines methodology; and coordinates the development of training aids. Conducts training sessions, product demonstrations, and develops criteria for evaluating effectiveness of training activities. May utilize trainers with technical expertise. May administer tests. Continuously revises lesson plans to ensure course material reflect product features, meet new training requirements and to keep technical information up to date. May include military trainers. Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in technical training, instruction, or curriculum development for defense or aerospace systems.
- Precious employment of adult learning concepts / andragogy methodology.
- Familiarity with Interactive Media Instruction (IMI) levels and deploying a variety of training modalities for an effective learning experience.
- Proven ability to develop and deliver both classroom and virtual training.
- SME Collaboration: Partner with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to gather accurate information and translate complex concepts into clear learning content.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear learning outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders including employees, management, and customers.
- Continuous Maintenance: Review and update existing training materials and supporting documentation periodically to reflect software updates, policy shifts, or evaluation feedback.
- Participated in a LM Heroes SkillBridge Fellowship at Lockheed Martin
- Ability to obtain & maintain a security clearance

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $89100.00 - $165500.00
