Standard Job Description

Performs as the Software Architect for a demonstration mission, leads trades, makes decisions impacting the execution of the mission. Plans, conducts, and coordinates software development activities. Designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business/mission problems or questions in computer language for solutions by means of data processing equipment. Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle. Applies knowledge of mission hardware and software, subject matter to be programmed in mission applications, information processing techniques used, and information gathered from system users to develop software. Corrects program errors, prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls. Ensures software standards are met.

As the Software Architect, responsibilities include:

  • Establish and manage architectural tenets, principles, patterns, and best-practices used to guide design and development activity closure against system CONOP and requirements
  • Define and manage the generation and maintenance of critical architectural and system artifacts and high-level system decomposition
  • Work with design and development teams to ensure alignment with above
  • Lead development teams to define and prioritize architectural spikes and trades as needed to reduce development risk
  • Work across SE, development, and test teams to define, monitor, and manage architectural feature development
  • Work with performance and test teams where needed to develop and maintain models that reflect the current and objective system architecture
  • Work with design and development teams to identify and address architectural weaknesses/defects if/when detected

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience with software architecture
  • Experience working in an agile team environment
  • Experience as a Software Architect or Associate Chief Architect
  • Previous experience with the Horizon, Compass, and/or Astrolabe product lines
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance

Desired Skills

  • Experience working in Synthetic Aperture Radar domain
  • Experience with performance modeling
  • Experience in transitioning a demonstration mission into an operational system
  • Experience in estimating development effort for Basis of Estimates (BOEs)

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $166900.00 - $309900.00

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
