Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced engineer to support the deployment, integration, operation, sustainment, and continuous improvement of mission-critical systems in classified environments. This role operates at the intersection of OpenShift platform operations, Rundeck-based automation, enterprise systems administration, and security compliance, with a strong emphasis on hands-on engineering in fast-paced, operationally sensitive settings.
This position requires deep technical expertise and the ability to work effectively across platform, infrastructure, and operational domains. The engineer will be relied upon to solve complex technical problems, support high-visibility deployment activities, and help maintain secure, stable, and resilient environments that support critical mission needs. The role demands strong troubleshooting capability across compute, network, storage, operating systems, and platform services, along with the ability to contribute to automation, process improvement, and operational readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot OpenShift clusters in classified environments to ensure reliable, secure, and resilient platform operations.
- Provide advanced administration for Linux and Windows server environments, including patching, hardening, configuration management, troubleshooting, and lifecycle support.
- Support complex deployment, upgrade, and integration activities by validating environment readiness, executing technical tasks, and resolving implementation issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve outages, perform root cause analysis, document findings, and contribute to recovery improvements and preventive corrective actions.
- Implement and maintain security controls, hardening standards, configuration baselines, and accreditation requirements across supported environments.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues spanning compute, networking, storage, virtualization, operating systems, automation tooling, and platform services.
- Work with partner teams to address multi-domain problems and improve interoperability, reliability, and supportability across systems.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation including runbooks, deployment procedures, configuration references, and troubleshooting guides.
- Contribute to process improvements, operational standardization, and automation enhancements that strengthen readiness and long-term sustainment.
Basic Qualifications
- Active Top Secret clearance with the ability to maintain clearance eligibility throughout employment (SCI preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, systems administration, platform operations, or related technical roles, preferably in enterprise-scale or classified environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with Linux and Windows Server administration, including patching, hardening, configuration management, troubleshooting, and system lifecycle support.
- Practical experience supporting enterprise network environments, including connectivity troubleshooting, DNS, routing/switching fundamentals, firewall coordination, and resolving network-related issues impacting systems and platform operations.
- Experience troubleshooting complex, distributed systems across compute, networking, storage, operating system, and platform layers.
- Familiarity with security-focused engineering practices, including system hardening, compliance checks, vulnerability remediation, and audit readiness.
- Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively across operations, cybersecurity, networking, and program teams.
- Ability to travel on short notice, up to approximately 25%, in support of deployment and operational activities.
Desired Skills
- Certifications such as Security+, RHCSA/RHCE, CISSP, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or similar relevant credentials.
- Hands-on experience deploying and supporting OpenShift clusters in secure or classified environments.
- Knowledge of enterprise networking concepts and technologies, including routing, switching, DNS, load balancing, firewalls, and connectivity troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with enterprise storage technologies such as SAN/NAS, replication, backup/recovery, and storage performance analysis.
- Experience supporting large-scale deployment efforts, modernization initiatives, or complex operational environments.
- Experience working with OpenShift, Kubernetes, or similar container platforms in operational environments.
- Experience developing or maintaining automation using Rundeck, Ansible, or similar orchestration and automation tools.
- Exposure to enterprise transformation initiatives such as 1LMX or similar modernization programs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $135700.00 - $251900.00

- For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
