This role will offer you the following daily challenges:
Responsible for leading a team of strategic and financial staff ensuring alignment of New Business Funds (NBF) to strategic growth objectives, conducting business case assessments, performing portfolio analysis, and developing the investment strategy across LM Space.
- Leads a team of strategists, business operations & financial analysts to provide strategic, technical, and financial decision support that best positions LM Space for near, mid, and long term growth
- Responsible for Enterprise Level New Business Funds (NBF) and Line of Business / Functional NBF portfolio strategy, planning, execution, analysis, and status reviews
- Responsible for providing the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) a plan aligning and linking strategy to the NBF tasks and projects, making strategic decisions on how the plan should be developed, and presenting to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) for consideration
- Directs the preparation of financial business cases supporting investment of NBF across the business, specifically for large, multi-year Key Investment project candidates
- Drives strategic alignment across NBF, Capital and other sources of investment funds to ensure a cohesive investment strategy
- Engages with Corporate stakeholders on cross-business investment linkages and technology pushes
- Maintain strong process governance over the NBF allocation and execution activities
Basic Qualifications
To be effective, you will need to possess these basic qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited college
- Experience development investment strategies to deliver concrete business outcomes
- Experience managing complex investment portfolios and making strategic decisions to maximize value creation
- Technical knowledge within the Space Industry such that you can partner with highly technical project leaders on strategy
- You will need to be a US Citizen, and be able to obtain and maintain a US DoD SECRET clearance, to support this government contract, as well as successfully pass a drug and background check, in order to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Please note: No clearance is required to apply, nor prior to start.
Desired Skills
To be effective, ideally, you should also have:
- Advanced degree from accredited college (MBA or Technical)
- Deep knowledge of the Space Industry and LM Space divisions and products
- Experience in balancing organic and inorganic strategies
- Mergers and Acquisitions experience
- Experience managing large budgets, tracking execution, and managing risk/opportunities
- Ability to communicate complex information and situations to executive audiences for decision making
- Strong business acumen and ability to lead business case assessments
Please Note: The preferred candidate will be located near our Lockheed Martin Space facility in Denver, CO; however, we will consider well qualified candidates near our other Lockheed Martin facilites in either: Sunnyvale, Valley Forge, Herndon, Titusville, or Huntsville.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $180000.00 - $325000.00

- Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.
- For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
