In this role, you will work as an engineer focused on satellite Bus Structures Design, collaborating closely with various adjacent engineering functions. These functions encompass the full spectrum of hardware development, including development, design, fabrication, testing, integration, and delivery, and you will play a key role in ensuring seamless interaction and coordination among these teams. Your responsibilities may include some of the following:
- Research, design, analyze, and develop innovative components, assemblies, and systems of varying complexity while assuring sound technical rigor and timely delivery.
- Develop, review, and maintain engineering documents, specifications, and technical analyses, including 3D solid models and 2D drawings.
- Be a member of integrated product teams, reciprocally interacting with other engineers, adjacent functions, suppliers, and stakeholders, to support products through the entire engineering lifecycle.
- Independently review requirements, from various sources (instrumentation, dynamics, stress, systems, thermal, manufacturing, etc.) to ensure that applicable requirements are flowed into the detailed design of assigned products.
Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education with commensurate years of professional experience.
- 7 years or more of mechanical design and/or integration experience
- Demonstrated understanding of structures and materials as well as the application of Mechanical Engineering principles, theories and concepts.
- Robust knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing in accordance with ASME Y14.5 and ability to perform complex detailed part and subsystem tolerance analysis.
- Experience with solid model and drawing creation using 3D computer-aided design software, specification development, vendor interface, parts selection, and configuration control.
- Excellent verbal/written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret security clearance.
Desired Skills
- Experience with satellite bus structure design.
- Experience with composite materials or bonded assemblies.
- Self starter with outside the box thinking.
- Ability and desire to assume ownership of tasks and drive to closure quickly and efficiently.
- Extensive experience with application of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and ASME Y14.5.
- Experience with Engineering Data Product release process within the Engineering Product Data Management (EPDM) system.
- Active DoD Top Secret security clearance.
- Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $118000.00 - $219100.00

- For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
