Help Desk/Systems Engineer

Lockheed Martin (LM) Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS) is looking for engineering professionals to work on the Trusted Security Solutions (TSS) program to engineer Cross-Domain Solution (CDS) products - creating innovative solutions to deliver resilient systems, products, and services to protect our customers' platforms against evolving cyber threats.
WHAT WE’RE DOING
This position is for a Systems Engineer/Help Desk Engineer on the Radiant Mercury (RM) product within the TSS program. RM is the US Navy's premier CDS product and LM has been the prime contractor for over 20 years. RM delivers secure CDS to our customers, enabling the controlled transfer of information between different security domains. This role is critical in safeguarding the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of these mission-critical systems.
WHO YOU ARE
As an ideal candidate for this position:
- You will have a strong background on CDS Programs, a willingness to learn new technologies, and be able to support all phases of the CDS lifecycle
- You are a well-rounded engineer that has experience with hardware, networking, software deployment, and RHEL system administration
- You collaborate effectively with all program functions and personnel to coordinate various types of tasks
- You learn necessary skills through hands-on experiences and work well in a team
- You will occasionally travel to customer sites and be “the face of the program” to the customer; ensuring system deployments and security evaluations go smoothly
THE WORK
The primary work location is at the Deer Creek Facility (DCF) in Littleton, Colorado with limited ability to work remotely. Responsibilities for the role include:
Customer Help‑Desk Support
- Operate the primary help‑desk channel for the TSS‑RM customer base; respond to incident tickets, service requests, and technical queries
- Perform root‑cause analysis, provide work‑arounds, and document resolutions in the ticketing system
- Escalate complex problems to senior technical leads or program management as needed, while maintaining clear communication with the customer
- Provide Distance Support for all deployed baseline(s), including: phone and email support on a 24-hour, 7-days a week basis
Installation Support
- Lead troubleshooting sessions during on‑site and remote installations; coordinate with other engineering disciplines to resolve issues quickly
- Conduct pre‑installation reviews of hardware, software, and network configurations; verify compliance with program requirements
- Serve as the technical point of contact for the Installation Team; review and validate installation plans, configurations, and integration steps as requested
Documentation & Compliance
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, including installation guides, configuration baselines, and help‑desk SOPs
- Ensure all classified media and SIPRNet‑based documents are handled per security policies
- Contribute to post‑installation reviews and lessons‑learned reports

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college with 5+ years of professional experience in a related discipline, a Master's degree in a related discipline; or equivalent experience/combined education
- Proven background delivering technical help‑desk support (ticketing systems, incident management).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail; Quick thinker, fast learner/Proactive, problem solver, creative, critical thinking skills.
- Ability to learn necessary skills through hands on experiences
- Proven experience using Red Hat Enterprise Linux
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated stakeholder management experience
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and build consensus among stakeholders
- Ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance
Desired Skills
- Prior work on the Radiant Mercury (RM) program or similar classified communications platforms
- Direct experience supporting installation teams in field environments.
- Familiarity with DoD customers
- Understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle, including principles, processes, and methodologies
- Basic networking knowledge
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $118000.00 - $219100.00

- For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
