THE WORK
Lockheed Martin is seeking a talented level 6 SW Engineering Mgr with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance to work from our Longmont, CO location.


Manages software development and infrastructure activities. Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions. Oversees the design, development, documentation, and testing of software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business/mission problems or questions in computer language for solutions by means of data processing equipment. Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle. Applies knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter to be programmed in business/mission applications, information processing techniques used, and information gathered from system users to develop software. Ensures software standards are met.

Leads and integrates software engineering and infrastructure functions to deliver cutting‑edge, mission‑critical capabilities across TTW OPIR Ground contracts. Partners with program management, customers, and cross‑functional teams to define and execute development and operations strategies, and build a high‑performing team.

Core Responsibilities

  • Team Building & Mentorship: Recruit, organize, and mentor a multidisciplinary engineering team; foster a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.
  • Program Alignment: Work closely with program management to translate requirements into actionable engineering plans and deliverables.
  • Delivery: Ensure timely, high‑quality delivery of software and infrastructure solutions through robust engineering processes, metrics, and risk management.
  • Execution: Own engineering budget, schedule, and metrics; track and report performance indicators; drive efficiencies and resolve cross‑program staffing/technical challenges.
  • Stakeholder leadership: Prioritize and communicate roadmap items, trade‑offs, and status updates to senior leadership and cross‑functional partners.
  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Drive adoption of emerging technologies, best practices, and automation to enhance system reliability, scalability, and performance.
  • Culture: Energize teams, promote OneLM values (Hear & Be Heard, Collaborate to Win, Accelerate Change), and champion continuous improvement and hypothesis‑based experimentation.


Basic Qualifications

  • Proven track record leading and managing software and infrastructure engineers
  • Ability to solve staffing challenges across diverse, distributed software and infrastructure teams.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in planning, tracking, and reporting technical effort, cost, and schedule.
  • Experience in modern software development practices and infrastructure technologies.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
  • Eligibility for a security clearance

Desired Skills

  • Prior experience managing multi‑contract or multi‑program engineering efforts within a large defense contractor.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead distributed/remote engineering teams.
  • TS/SCI

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $205300.00 - $381300.00

  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
