Standard Job Description
Prepare surfaces for painting by methods such as sanding, scraping and application of paint remover and apply size where indicated. Mix paint, blend colors according to chart or specifications or to match present paint, and apply with brush, spray gun, or roller. Finish all types of surfaces such as walls, ceilings, trim, doors, furniture, machines and equipment and coverings such as paper, cloth, cork, and vinyl. Erect and work and work from necessary ladders and scaffolds, or rig boatswain's chair or swinging stage and cover adjacent equipment and areas with protective papers and tarpaulins. May putty existing glass. Maintain brushes and equipment in usable condition. Operate and maintain airless spray painting equipment. Keep own work area clean and orderly.
Basic Qualifications
Equivalent to two years high school plus short specialized trades training. Work from specifications, sketches, and color charts. Use simple arithmetic and paint mixing and applying equipment. Working knowledge of painting and finishing methods. Requires short specialized training in painting techniques.
One to two years experience.
Too coordinate the painting of interior and exterior surfaces of plant buildings, offices, and equipment.
