The RMS Machining Center in Owego, NY, is a premier precision‑manufacturing hub supporting critical aerospace programs. Your work will directly enable the delivery of high‑performance components and assemblies that meet stringent aerospace specifications and national security needs.
In this role you will:
• Lead the creation of manufacturing bills of materials (MBOMs) and master routings to ensure accurate production planning.
• Develop and qualify welding procedures, including advanced processes such as friction stir welding and robotic welding, to meet program requirements.
• Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives by troubleshooting floor issues, analyzing weld defects, and implementing corrective actions.
• Coordinate production‑readiness reviews, providing technical insight and performance data to the Manufacturing Program Manager.
• Mentor and train welders and manufacturing personnel, enhancing weld quality and consistency across the center.
• Evaluate material selections and process assessments, recommending optimal solutions for complex alloys and specialty materials.
• Communicate drawing intent, work instructions, and weld specifications clearly to CNC programmers, machinists, and assembly teams.
• Optimize lean manufacturing practices, applying lean principles to improve workflow and reduce waste.
Who You Are:
You are a skilled welding and manufacturing engineer with strong problem‑solving abilities, adept at translating complex technical requirements into reliable production processes. You excel at collaborating across multidisciplinary teams, driving continuous improvement, and communicating technical insights clearly.
Must be a US Citizen.; This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Familar with conventional welding processes (e.g., Gas Metal Arc Weilding, Gas Tungsten Arc Weilding) and ability to develop and qualify weld procedures.
• Proven problem solving and analytical skills, especially for diagnosing and correcting weld defects.
• Familiarity with industry welding standards and the weld qualification process.
• Practical, hands on experience with welding or other manufacturing processes, including basic GD&T concepts.

Desired Skills
• Proficiency with robotic welding systems and automation technologies.
• Knowledge of friction stir welding (FSW) principles and applications.
• Basic understanding of metallurgy, materials science, heat treatment, and material behavior under stress.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Strong ability to communicate and interpret drawing intent, work instructions, and weld requirements to manufacturing personnel.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $58200.00 - $108200.00

- For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
