What You Will Be Doing

This is a Manufacturing Engineer Sr Staff position on the Production Engineering (PE) F‑35 Strategic Corrective Action (SCA) team in Fort Worth, Texas. In this role dynamic role you will serve in a Technical Lead capacity, primarily supporting the Rework and Repair (R&R) Council, as well as other potential special assignments and Technical Lead duties as required. This high visibility role will allow you to work cross-functionally to develop and execute on the strategy to support the R&R reduction efforts across F-35 Production Operations. This role is essential to shaping the future of F-35 R&R strategy and must be comfortable periodically reporting to Senior Leadership including Director and VP level leaders.

You will lead various project charters and support the cross functional teams as needed in their efforts to reduce R&R across the program. This will include investigations of manufacturing processes across multiple build areas as well as at a program level, applying Lean Six Sigma tools to uncover root causes, close process gaps, developing corrective action plans, and weekly coordination with Production Operations counterparts. You will work closely with Quality Engineering and Production Operations, coordinate cross functional teams, promote creative problem solving, and drive product improvement initiatives. Throughout each corrective action effort you will project manage the work from initiation through verification and closure, while tracking key metrics to reduce variation and elevate overall product quality.

Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice

Performs in a collaborative environment to develop and implement manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, fabrication, and material handling. Drives adoption of new technologies and processes (automation, robotics, computer aided manufacturing software, etc.) to achieve greater efficiency, cost reduction and quality improvement. Creates and analyzes 3D based model data environment to optimize manufacturing process and digital work instructions. Leverages understanding of materials and automatic processes to define operations procedures and build sequences to drive operational excellence. Evaluates performance (including IoT devices, etc.) of equipment and tools to verify their efficiency and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure operational excellence. Leverages factory data to develop statistical process control approaches and integrates reporting and data analytics solutions for continuous improvement. Provides input to product design regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.

Basic Qualifications

- Experience working in a manufacturing environment working cross functionally with other disciplines including quality assurance, production operations, design engineering, industrial engineer, project engineer, manufacturing engineering, and/or process engineering

- Demonstrated interpersonal and collaboration skills required in a team environment.

- Demonstrated experience presenting to Senior/Executive Leadership

- Ability to apply structured root cause analysis techniques and corrective action plans

- Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques and principles

Desired Skills

- STEM Bachelor's degree

- Prior experience in a Technical Lead, Team Leader or Leadership capacity

- Self starter that can work independently under only consultative direction

- Demonstrated proficiency with MS office, Excel, PowerPoint, SFM, Product Data Manager (PDM) and other LM Aero systems.

- Prior experience on F-35 or other military aircraft

- Strong oral and written communication skills.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $129000.00 - $239600.00

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
