Lockheed Martin – F‑35 Manufacturing Engineering Associate Manager (Detail & Fabrication Planning)

Lockheed Martin is seeking a dynamic, results‑driven leader to head the Detail & Fabrication Planning team within the Production Engineering (PE) Planning organization. The Associate Manager will guide a diverse group of Manufacturing Planners and CAPP Help‑Desk representatives, supporting 1st-shift Production Operations across multiple aircraft programs – including the F‑35, F‑16, F‑22, and C‑130. This role partners closely with Production Operations, MRB, Quality, and Installation Planning to develop and maintain high‑quality work instructions for both standard and non‑standard tasks, while driving continuous‑improvement initiatives that elevate PE processes, KPI performance, and overall accountability.

What You’ll Do

  • Mentor and lead a high‑performing team of 7+ Manufacturing Planners, 2 CAPP Help‑Desk staff and Core Planning Lead.
  • Lead PE Planning process improvements, establishing and tracking KPIs while visualizing performance metrics.
  • Partner with Production Operations, MRB and Quality to develop precise work instructions for all standard and non‑standard fabrication work.
  • Guide planners daily and resolve employee matters in collaboration with HR Business Partners, Labor Relations, and Union Stewards.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of aircraft detail‑fabrication planning experience or equivalent aircraft fabrication mechanical/engineering background.
  • Proven ability to analyze data sets and define/maintain key performance indicators.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor colleagues and elevate overall team performance

Desired Skills

  • Manufacturing planning experience – deep knowledge of aircraft detail‑fabrication planning processes and procedures.
  • 5 + years of management or leadership experience in a detail‑fabrication environment or aircraft manufacturing production line.
  • Prior experience managing a represented (union) workforce.
  • Strong talent‑management capabilities, including recruiting, coaching, and performance development.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $104900.00 - $194700.00

  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
