Standard Job Description

As the Chief Engineer specific duties include:

  • Ensuring proposals have sound, affordable technical solutions and schedules.
  • Coordinating/collaborating with program management to:
    • Make key decisions, balancing technical needs and business constraints to meet program objectives
    • Ensure program plans and technical baselines are consistent with Program Control processes and modern Engineering Practices.
    • Determine the appropriate program risk posture and develop mitigation strategies for complex projects.
  • Leading a technical team of cross functional engineers to
    • Ensure successful system/product development and execution, managing technical scope and prioritizing problems for investigation.
    • Evaluate and implement cost effective, innovative/novel solutions
    • Champion airworthiness/mission success and drive an airworthiness/mission success culture.
    • Ensure selected designs are robust and include appropriate margins to facilitate safety, performance, producibility and operational availability/supportability.
    • Identify lessons-learned and initiate/implement corrective actions to improve ongoing and future programs.
    • Provide technical mentoring and career development support to the team and allocating resources effectively.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM discipline

• Experience as a chief engineer, system engineering leader, Control Account Manager (CAM) or technical leader on an aerospace program

• Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to distill and articulate complex issues into succinct, cohesive executive summaries

Desired Skills

  • Master’s degree in STEM discipline
  • Deep Infrastructure Knowledge: Expert understanding of hardware (CPUs, storage), networking protocols (TCP/IP), and operating systems (Linux/Windows).
  • Cloud & Hybrid Competency: Proficiency in designing scalable infrastructures using platforms like AWS or Microsoft Azure for cloud-based and/or on prem data centers
  • Chief engineer experience to include technical oversight of an aircraft technical baseline, risk & opportunity management, and conduct of System Engineering Technical Reviews (SETR)
  • Experience with airworthiness certification for software and hardware systems
  • Experience with Specialty Engineering disciplines: Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (EEE); ESOH/Hazardous Materials Management; Configuration Management; Cyber Security; Reliability, Maintainability, Availability (RM&A)
  • Passion for personal accountability, achievement, learning and continual improvement
  • Experience with System Safety for software and hardware systems

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $148300.00 - $275500.00

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
