We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Airframe Structure Design Engineer to join our AMMM (Advanced Materials and Manufacturing for Military Aircraft) program. In this role, you will apply technical expertise to develop solutions to aircraft design problems. This position is in Marietta, GA.
Responsibilities will include:

  • Develop designs of airframe structures, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, industry standards, and regulations.
  • Develop preliminary layouts for installations, assemblies, and detail parts.
  • Develop or improve products and designs for manufacturability.
  • Communicate design progression in incremental design reviews with stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with support organizations, including stress analysis, manufacturing, tooling, supply chain management and quality assurance, to ensure the successful implementation of airframe structure designs.
  • Investigate pertinent design factors such as manufacturability, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-weight efficiency, contractual specification requirements, and cost.
  • Check completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning.
  • Identify design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommend revisions and/or improvements in design layout to responsible engineers or designers.
  • Ideal candidate would have aerospace design experience with knowledge of configuration management techniques, drafting/drawing conventions, and aerospace specifications and procedures.

The successful candidate must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline such as Mechanical, Aerospace, or Aeronautical Engineering, or high school diploma with equivalent experience in an Engineering role.
  • 9 years of professional experience; or 7 years of professional experience with a related Master’s degree
  • Experience in CAD systems (e.g. CATIA V5, NX, SolidWorks, CCD etc.)
  • Experience with metallic or composite structural design

Desired Skills

  • Familiarity with mod / kit design
  • Familiarity with legacy aircraft programs and legacy drawing interpretation
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Experience with surfacing design and loft development
  • Excellent communication, presentation, people and team skills
  • Proven history of strong work habits and a positive attitude
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • C-130 experience

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $104900.00 - $194700.00
