The Opportunity

Join the AIR6500 program and lead a high-performing Integrated Product Team delivering capability on one of Australia's most complex and strategically significant Defence programs. As an Integrated Product Team (IPT Lead, you will be responsible for the technical leadership, planning and execution of a multidisciplinary team, ensuring successful delivery of engineering outcomes across the product lifecycle.

Working closely with Product Owners, Systems Engineering, Integration & Test teams and key stakeholders, you will drive technical direction, manage priorities, and foster collaboration to deliver mission-critical Defence capability. This is an opportunity to combine strong leadership skills with deep technical engagement while contributing to Australia's future integrated air and missile defence capability. 

AIR6500 is the RAAF’s $3 billion program to develop a joint air battle management system that builds on the capabilities offered by Next Generation sensor and command and control systems. AIR6500 will create a fully networked ‘system of systems’ that synchronises air and missile defence operations in joint and coalition environments, maximising situational awareness and enhancing the speed of decision making across the battlespace. 

Key Responsibilities

The IPT Lead's primary responsibilities include:

  • Lead and coordinate a multidisciplinary Integrated Product Team to deliver capability, performance, cost and schedule objectives
  • Define team priorities, operating approaches and delivery plans, ensuring alignment with program goals and stakeholder expectations
  • Provide technical leadership across the engineering lifecycle, working with Product Owners, Product Teams and SEIT stakeholders
  • Manage capability scope, priorities and acceptance criteria, ensuring delivery aligns with business and customer requirements
  • Drive risk and opportunity management activities while maintaining visibility of progress, dependencies and key milestones
  • Foster effective stakeholder engagement through regular communication, reporting and collaboration across the AIR6500 program

What you’ll bring

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Proven experience leading technical teams and coordinating complex engineering activities to achieve program outcomes
  • Strong knowledge of Agile frameworks, processes and tools, with the ability to prioritise and manage competing demands
  • Experience in systems definition, systems engineering or delivery of complex technical solutions
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and align diverse teams
  • Experience assessing team capability, developing talent and driving continuous improvement initiatives
  • Experience with Complex Systems Integration & Test, Model-Based Engineering (MBE), SAFe and/or Control Account Management (CAM) will be highly regarded
  • Eligibility for, or ability to obtain, an Australian NV‑1 security clearance
  • Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice
