AIR6500 is the RAAF’s $3 billion program to develop a joint air battle management system that builds on the capabilities offered by Next Generation sensor and command and control systems. AIR6500 will create a fully networked ‘system of systems’ that synchronises air and missile Defence operations in joint and coalition environments, maximising situational awareness and enhancing the speed of decision making across the battlespace. A Project Management & Production Operations Manager opportunity has arisen  which can be based out of either Newcastle or Adelaide.

The Opportunity

Manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management. Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions. Oversees the status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Monitors the assessment of project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Insures the development of mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.

Basic Qualifications

Extensive PM experience (cost, schedule, quality, risk/opportunity) within the Defence Industry, including experience with developing cost and schedule baselines for large development and Production Operations effort.

Demonstrated Skills and Experience

Establishment of a Production Capability to Defence programs & leading production effort.

Advanced planning, stakeholder engagement and execution of an ERP rollout.

Experience with Agile program management. 

Experience with the development of Business Cases and Proposals. 

An understanding of the interfaces between stakeholders technical, Procurement, Quality, ILS and Systems Engineering Lifecycle; &

Experience in financial management and reporting.
