The Opportunity

Join Lockheed Martin Australia as a Senior Systems Engineer and contribute to the delivery of some of Australia's most advanced Defence and national security capabilities. Working within our Systems Engineering function, you will support a diverse portfolio of programs, applying your expertise to complex technical challenges while helping teams deliver critical outcomes across the engineering lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Systems Engineer's primary responsibilities include:

  • Support complex Defence programs through the application of systems engineering principles across the full engineering lifecycle
  • Develop, analyse and manage requirements, architectures, interfaces, verification activities and other engineering artefacts
  • Provide specialist expertise in areas such as requirements management, systems architecture, specialty engineering or verification & validation
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to solve complex technical and program challenges
  • Contribute to engineering reviews, bids, governance activities and capability development initiatives across the business
  • Support continuous improvement of systems engineering processes, tools, training and best practices

What you’ll bring

  • Experience delivering systems or subsystems engineering outcomes within Defence, aerospace, maritime or other complex engineering environments
  • Expertise in one or more systems engineering disciplines such as requirements management, systems architecture, specialty engineering, or verification & validation
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Experience working across the systems engineering lifecycle, from concept and design through to integration, test and acceptance
  • A degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant industry experience
  • Exposure to MBSE, Agile development methodologies, Defence capability domains or test automation approaches will be highly regarded
  • NV1 security clearance and ability to handle Export Controlled information
  • Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice
