The Opportunity

At Lockheed Martin Australia, we're growing our Systems Engineering capability and are seeking Systems Engineers at both intermediate and senior levels to support a diverse portfolio of Defence and national security programs.

Whether your expertise lies in requirements management, systems architecture, integration, verification & validation, or specialty engineering, you'll have the opportunity to work on complex, mission-critical systems that make a real impact. Working alongside experienced engineers and technical leaders, you'll contribute to some of the nation's most advanced technology programs while continuing to grow your skills and career.

This is an ideal opportunity for engineers with a few years of experience looking to take the next step, as well as seasoned Systems Engineers seeking exposure to a variety of challenging projects and technologies.

Key Responsibilities

The Systems Engineer's primary responsibilities include:

  • Working across a wide variety of projects across the defence domain. Opportunities to pick a particular area of focus, or gain a diverse range of experiences and skills.
  • Contributing to systems engineering activities across the lifecycle, including requirements analysis, architecture, integration, verification and validation
  • Developing technical artefacts such as requirements, interface definitions, design documentation, engineering assessments and trade studies
  • Supporting multidisciplinary teams to deliver complex engineering outcomes across a range of Defence and technology programs
  • Collaborating with stakeholders, subject matter experts and project teams to solve technical challenges and support delivery objectives
  • Applying systems engineering principles, processes and tools to support project execution and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Contributing to capability development activities including engineering governance, reviews, bids and technical innovation

What you’ll bring

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Experience across one or more systems engineering disciplines, including requirements management, systems architecture, specialty engineering, integration, or verification & validation
  • Experience working on complex engineering, technology or Defence projects
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver quality outcomes
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
  • An Engineering degree or equivalent relevant industry experience
  • Exposure to MBSE, Agile development, Defence capability domains or test automation approaches will be highly regarded
  • Flexibility and ability to hit the ground running.
  • NV1 security clearance and ability to handle Export Controlled information
  • Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice
